However the room was not as luxurious as the photos had led us to expect. Also curry night needs to consider English tastes, the korma was so spicy I could not eat it, very disappointing. Overall I would recommend the hotel as the situation, grounds and staff were brilliant."

"We had dinner in an almost empty dining room. The meals were served up but no one checked on us during the meal. My partner had no cheese in his burger. We mentioned this at when the plates were being cleared and it was mentioned to the chef and manager but no apologies or no compensation. The coffee sachets in the room used the cheapest coffee possible and it tasted awful. We had breakfast, which was okay but nothing special. "This is a lovely Pub in the heart of Old Basingstoke. A trifle awkward to get into by car, but plenty of parking once we'd managed it! Friendly and helpful staff. A good breakfast."

The good size double room had a kettle with coffee bags, fan, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus large TV. The mattress was a bit too firm for our comfort though."
