This rom was advertised as a family room but it was basic. A dirty towel was left behind the television, the double bed mattress was stained, there was no plug for the basin and the shower could not be used, the controls were hanging off the wall. The room was very hot and although the heating was turned down it was still too hot to sleep properly and the window could not be opened. The room was advertised as room only, no breakfast supplied, there was a very good cafe next door which opened early. The bar did afternoon and evening meals from Wednesday onwards these were excellent and very reasonable

AVOID!!!!!
Avoid like the plague ! Stank of damp , very dated, no ventilation, window wouldn’t open and was given tools to attempt to open ourselves !!! Mattress extremely thin , only one bedside table Baking hot so couldn’t sleep . no notice of building work , no breakfast , currently sat in A&e with my partner who tripped on shoddy Lino , wish we read and listened to the honest reviews , was left a vulgar note we presume written by a child on the car . Shocking and appalling

There was no hot water at the bathroom hand basin until I worked out I had to run the bath tap first and let it run as I used the basin! Some plumbing! It was also disappointing that the hotel didn't serve breakfast but had an 'arrangement; at a cafe next door. 1

Good place for one night and affordable! It looks so on a busy street so the road noise can be an issue. The local food was great! Spanish restaurant down the hill on the river was outstanding

Decent place to spend the night.
A pretty good room for the night given what I had paid. The bed creaked a lot, but I didn't sleep badly on it. Room was a good size, check in was easy and the location was good.

Good price and location
Great price and location. Teamed up with neighbours to supply breakfast at reduced price. Nothing really to add, clean and functional, allows pets. Pub staff very friendly and helpful, would stay again and bring family.

On a really busy road ear plugs needed it is what it is cheap, basic it was clean staff were all nice no food served in the pub Sunday to Wednesday… nice coffee shop opposite welcomes dogs

Quite poor.
Checked in at hotel late afternoon, visiting family. Left luggage in room and returned about 1030pm. Toilet hadnt been cleaned or flushed. Broken toilet roll holder and toilet seat loose. Fixed next day. Only one tea bag for a 4 night stay and no cleaning or bed making during our stay. No drinking glasses or spoons.

Pretty dreadful. Place stank of Canabis and cigarettes. Room was a good size. Bathroom was old and tired, lots of weird marks on the wall. Staff were really great and understanding. I had a full refund and did not stay. Just needs a good refurb and rebrand. Could be lovely.

Very neglected and shabby. Table had 3 legs,no bulb in ligh fitting in bathroom. Shower leaking and spraying water everywhere. Toiletries advertised but only soap available. Will not be going back to this one.

Upset about my stay.
First there is no heating what so ever. So i asked for it to be put on. Happens every time i have to ask for it to be put on. And took over a hour too. Then i go to have a shower. And no hot water what so ever. Had to boil the kettle and pour it in the sink and wash from that using a flannel i had to buy from the shop. Cups are never clean so i buy my own. Bed was so uncomfortable like sleeping on the floor. The noise from the radiators woke us both up in the middle of the night. And all we could hear at 7pm to about midnight was people talking and music. Sounded like a party down in the pub under my room. The room i had this time i wish no one stays in it. Makes me want to look else where. I been couple times before and things have been ok. I will give 1 more chance and if im offered the same room number 6. i will pass. I just hope the hot water gets fixed. And the bath pannels. I have seen in the 3 different rooms now all are damaged. And a light switch needs to be replaced. I think room 10. I even had to buy my own toilet rolls at one time because none was left in the room. Will give the place another chance but i will take pics next time to stay.

Soon we arrived at Brunel Inn, The Manager took Mr A Patel card detail, Mr Lewis's said it's for damaged the room. So they can deduct the amount. When we went in room number 7, sink had a cracked, heating wasn't working, TV was broken, Mr Lewis bought 3 different TV's non of them was working. Wardrobe door was missing, other side wardrobe was cracked on. Bed was not warm enough so have to sleep with shocks in beds. I have to top up water and beverage by going to the desk downstairs. Money was taken even we reached by Brunel Inh by Hotel. Com. Mr Lewis's was keep saying they taken the Bussness on the day. We accepted everything was on the day. But had bad experience by taken person bank details on arrival, we never had good experience by asking personal information. This business always been in different hands that's what Mr Lewis's explain.

DISGUSTING
It was not friendly, music til one in the morning,fighting outside bedroom window(apparently every weekend) room very dirty and damp smelt of cigarettes, no breakfast which said was included, staff were very rude, so bad we could not stay the second night which we paid for. Do Not recommend.

Please dont!!!! The description on Hotels.com is wrong and when trying to complain, there is no way of reaching anyone. Firstly, the room I stayed in had the heating stuck on full, throughout the night. No the sash windows dont open unless you find something to stick in between the frames. When I mentioned it, the owner said "oh yes, the last guest complained about that, so we will have to get the engineer out"!!! If he knew about it, he obviously doesnt want to do anything about it. But he still took my money. I spoke to a local business owner and he said he has wondered for months why he always sees things stuffed into the window by guests, so this has obviously been going on for months! The floor slopes significantly, and the decor is true 1960s. Being an old wooden building, it creaks whenever anyone walks past, and I was physically shaken in my bed by people walking by in the night. There was lots of shouting and swearing (on a Monday night) as it is a pub. I asked about breakfast (the sign in the room says it is available until 1030am). The owner said it is available when the pub opens (at noon). How is this breakfast?? The bed was a mattress with a sheet, no blanket underneath, so that you have mattress buttons sticking you all night. The soundproofing was such that I could hear EVERYTHING the guy in the room next door was doing in his bathroom! I even woke up to his snoring! Please, save yourself from the aggravation of this dreadful place.

My problem with the Brunel was the 2 fire alarms that went off on the first and second nights of our stay. The first was a false one just before midnight and was dealt with by the staff within 5 minutes. The second started at 04:50 and was continuous. Having gone outside with no one in charge, we phoned the advertised contact number with no reply. After 30 minutes in the rain, we phoned the Fire Brigade at which time a member of staff arrived by car driven by another person. The alarm was switched off and we returned inside. The Fire Brigade performed a thorough check as well. I will not be returning here!
