"Superb hotel full of character. Our room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant and were very impressed with the choice offered particularly for my husband who is coeliac and has to have gluten free. Every member of staff we engaged with were so polite and friendly. Our stay was an absolute delight."

Toilet made an awful noise through the plumbing, and a previous occupiers bar of soap left on floor of electric radiator. Bed was comfortable and the room warm. Communal spaces littered with room service crockery from the time I arrived until the time I left. Reception staff pleasant, and the breakfast was the highlight...

"Mattresses on beds poor in room 225 had to change rooms around 01:00 Sunday morning as noisy room next door to our original room 131 so on the whole not a great experience for ourselves unfortunately."

"Bed was soft and mattress tilting me floorward. Shower tray was blocked, cutting short my shower. The bathroom sink was the size of a dentist's spit basin making it impossible to shave. Lights in the communal corridor didn't switch on with any of the switches so be sure to have a torch with you to safely stay this hotel. No bedside table or power socket anywhere near the bedside. I wouldn't stay here again."

"Loved cleaning service. Stayed 3 nights but didn't want room cleaned each day but they left fresh bottles of water, extra biscuits, teas & coffees, plus a fresh loo roll withoutvus asking. Wonderful. Dining service staff also wonderful, especially very friendly & helpful Julie."

"We stayed for a couple of nights. The room was incredibly comfortable and quiet, certainly the best night's sleep we've had in local hotels in the area. The dinner menu is a bit limited, although the pizzas were good. They have just added cooked items to the breakfast but have a complicated charging system. Preferable just to add an extra amount to the b & b rate. The local countryside is lovely we had a couple of walks after dinner."

"Beautiful building and grounds. The staff were fantastic and very welcoming. The hotel is very dog friendly. We had a room with a door to a private patio and access to the gardens. Our wee dog absolutely loved it. The gym is ok for a hotel, with a decent amount of weights and a few cardio machines. The highlight had to be the incredible food we had for dinner.
