It has a number of facilities and I used a couple; good spa and treatments in a recently built large spa and a cookery course which was well hosted and lead by Ian. The Castle Bar's mixologist is a star. I heard dissent about the lack of dining options on Monday and Tuesday nights but the food was good and breakfast excellent. Room was great with magnificent views. Great parkland and range of facilities
It is a beautiful and relaxing place and with historical importance. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a bit expensive but then it is very big. If you have big appetite maybe it is worth it.
We stayed for two nights. The location is wonderful. It’s remote and peaceful. The restaurants were both excellent as was the breakfast. We went out to the Bivaouc cafe and that was lovely as well. We used the spa which was quite busy but otherwise really nice.
This was pur first time at Swinton Park and we'll definitely be back. Our room was beautiful, the grounds are great with plenty of things to do and enjoy and the food was amazing. The best part of our stay had to be the spa though, really well-appointed with lots of attention to detail. We were both super relaxed and sleepy after just a couple of hours.
Beautiful Hotel in an amazing estate and deer park. Stunning views, beautiful comfortable rooms with wonderful public rooms and reception rooms in the ground floor. The staff is very helpful and friendly, in particular David made our stay uniquely personal and memorable. The food in all restaurants is excellent. The Spa is modern, comfortable and nicely decorated. We will definitely return, when in North Yorkshire again.

Room for improvement
Impressive grounds and estate. Rooms are large, but amenities provided are basic. No dental kits. Staff could do with more training about the estate, its offerings and also welcome. Service with a smile would be appreciated. The international tourist feels rather unwelcomed.

Room was in good condition however it was a disabled room that was not advised on booking. There was an intermittent unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Seeing the disabled room I immediately requested a room change but here was not much enthusiasm as we had a 2 night stay and was told the hotel was full the following night so not much they could do and on the first night there were currently no other made up rooms.
Overall the staff at the bar and in the restaurant and around the hotel were very good however breakfast on Sunday morning left a lot to be desired in terms of service as anything cooked took an age to arrive and my wife after at least half an hour gave up on hers but it did arrive as we were leaving!
The grounds and facilities are excellent.
On departure I was clear to my complaint on the room, I was offered a token without any any investigation and offered access to speak with the deputy manager. I declined both and hoped it would have been dealt with differently as my point was not financial and being fobbed off with £50 and having to request the manager did not feel right.
My intention was to convey disappointment with the room in the hope of investigation and recognition to a problem with some assurance it would not remain an issue for others. I left feeling no one really cared!

Not what we imagined …
Booked a 5* trip with my husband. Arrived to a beautiful castle and greeted with a complimentary drink which was lovely. We were shown to our room and unfortunately it was dated. I appreciate that the property is in keeping with tradition but plastic door handles and low level brand of toiletries didn’t scream luxury I’m afraid. The hairdryer sounded like it was about to blow up and the tap came off in my hand.
The drawing rooms and estate along with the spa are beautiful.
The meal at night - no cocktail menu. At dinner ordered belly pork which was the size of a Lego brick. Very disappointing.
The Terrace bar wasn’t open either so no other choice.
No at all impressed.
The room was tired especially the carpet which had lots of marks on it. Bed also needs replacing. Excellent bathroom. Housekeeping in the room needs stepping up.
Great walking paths.
Very nice grounds.
Mostly friendly attentive staff.
We stayed in the coach house. Corners of the windows were covered/smeared with bird droppings. In the bathroom our toilet had a faecal stain on the toilet bowl.
1. Excellent service
2. excellent spa
3. Delicious and varied breakfast.
4. Very beautiful and atmospheric hotel
5. Well-groomed territory around.
6. Quiet place for a relaxing weekend.
7. Very clean rooms
Beautiful surroundings and lovely comfortable accommodation. Service could have been more attentive in the main house; table not cleared until I helped and then not cleared again after I’d used it. A wait for help at reception. Just didn’t seem many staff about! But, the accommodation itself is beautiful.
Having previously stayed at Swinton, I have never been asked to pay for the room upon arrival, usually it's payment on departure. Totally embarrassing to be asked to pay on arrival, in front of my husband (who I had treated to a stay for his 50th birthday) and a group of other guests. How to humiliate your guests and make them feel like paupers in front of everybody in one easy step. Thanks very much!
