The rooms were not cleaned properly. Behind the bed there was alot of dust and dead insects. The bed was never moved. Rhe bathroom was also dirty. Lots of drad insects. For the duration of the stay, the cleaning staff supposedly cleaned the room and bathroom but the dead insects and dust was never removed. The hotel look good on the outside and the entrance looked clean and welcoming. The location was good. Staff were friendly.
The staff were amazing, the breakfast great and the dining room very quaint - the room was a bit cramped. The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless.

Lovely place, cleanliness iffy!
The staff were more than friendly and accommodating and the property and location is just perfect for a getaway. The only negative factor was the cleanliness of the bathroom, there was a lot of mildew around the sink and shower walls had moss growing on it which spoiled the experience a little. The food was really excellent and the best scones we had ever had for breakfast.
This is a lovely hotel in a small town. The staff makes it feel like a family home and are friendly and welcoming.

Charmigt hotell, men rummet bedagat, behöver uppfräschning!
Många trappsteg upp och ner, både till rum och pool och restaurang.
Verandan utmed gatan trevlig!
Loved the “grand old lady” atmosphere of the hotel. The gin & tonic choices on the front verandah are not

Fairly basic
Externally looks amazing but my room was down some stairs which was difficult with a suitcase. Car park is not secure. I did not feel value for money. Some very loud neighbours and a dodgy door to my room. Sadly I will not return.
The staff were great, the food was also very good, and thank you very much for the free upgrade to a king suite. We just came to get away for a weekend and do nothing, and that's exactly what we did, what a pleasure. Should time and circumstance permit in the future, we will definitely be back.
The Royal hotel is centrally located in the very small town of Riebeek. Staff are so kind. The hotel restaurant offers a fantastic breakfast, lunch & dinner menu- food is outstanding & superb service. Rooms really clean with modern en suite. From the minute you walk up the steps to the main entrance the Royal has a great feel a very relaxed East Indies feel. Poolside is very relaxing surrounded by mountains- so peaceful & beautiful. Highly recommend can’t say enough positive things about the hotel & the staff.
Incredible experience, we absolutely loved the hotel, the service, the exquisite breakfast and the 5 days dinner course for R198 (winter special) which in unbeatable value for money.
We'll definitely go back and recommend it to everybody.
Was a one nighter, for a wedding...
Everyone in this Hotel was super friendly and all had a wonderful smile.
Felt like a celebrity. Rooms could use a bit of work, but to be honest problem the best hotel in Riebeek Kasteel.
Beautiful little town, like many in Cape town.
We enjoyed an overnight stay at the Royal. It was like stepping back into the past. They serve the best gin and tonic on the veranda during happy hour. Dinner was very good and so was breakfast. Definitely worth a visit.
