Everything we needed

Fantastic location and good hotel. Had everything we needed to escape the bad weather on our hike. Wonderfully friendly and helpfully staff. Minor issues were broken light bulbs and bad smell from the bathroom.

The location can’t be any better: right on the promenade of Ribeira Brava, in the middle of the city Center with all its restaurants, the market, the concert stage, local and touristic shops. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The hotel is not new, but has everything one needs. Enjoy!

The property was very dated and in need of refurbishing,the bathroom definitely needs replacing . However the accommodation was clean . The location was just perfect & we had a sea view room that made up for the quality of the room . Breakfast was very poor and basic . We didn’t go after day 1 , there are lots of shops close by ,where you can grab foods & nice restaurants , A beautiful little town ,

We had the best stay at the Flag Hotel! The twin room was just the right size for two travelers. Ribeira Brava was a charming part of the island!! It was quiet and everyone was so kind. Above all, the staff at the hotel made our stay phenomenal. Joel went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible trip! He booked tours for us, scheduled taxis, and was genuinely excited to hear about our adventure. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I stay at a lot of hotels and I rarely write reviews. I'll also say that we got stuck in Madeira and had no choice...flight was cancelled and this was the only hotel that had rooms at the last minute. So, given that, it did the job for us as we just needed a place to crash for 24 hours. For a vacation, I wouldn't choose this hotel. Keep in mind, my family owned a hotel growing up so I have a ton of perspective. The Good: Super nice staff, great location (walkable to beach and restaurants), rooms have a view of the ocean and are decently clean The Bad: Really old rooms, facilities were not super clean (saw two dead cockroaches, lots of mosquitos), cold water knob fell off the shower, floor boards had lots of gaps, and beds were uncomfortable. So, overall, if you just need a place to sleep and shower....this place works fine. If you are looking for a resort with nice facilities and experience, this is not the place. Staff was super nice and friendly and the location is great with good views.

Good location, best days of the hotel have already passed. Unfortunately we had a room which was pretty dark, with only one small window without any view. Breakfast was ok, choice was relevant to the size of the hotel.
