The best thing is it’s close to the airport and the blue lagoon. As we only had less then a day of layover, this place is very near the blue lagoon where we planned to spend a few hours of relaxation before flying back home.

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to the Blue Lagoon. Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Did not realize that the town is an abandoned ghost town with most of the town fenced off and minimal food choices open during our stay. Bed was an old spring mattress that was uncomfortable.
Breakfast of low quality. Room was hot the window hard to open, due to rosty mechanic. We had a superior room facing to the mainroad, extra payment for such a room? Maybe the noise fee? No lights at the bedside. Only a reading lamp with damaged isolition, short circuit guranteed. Worst hotel on our 2 week trip.
Breakfast was mediocre, rooms aren’t as pictured. The area around the hotel is a ghost town. Staff are alright but you don’t feel welcome here. For the price i’d rather stay in the city and drive the 40 minutes. Only plus is that it’s 6 minutes from blue lagoon.

It was an okay, very outdated room and hotel. It did the job, but could have been better. I’m sure this place used to be the hottest hotel in the area, but since the evacuation over a year ago, the place is still a ghost town and this hotel has gone with it. Breakfast was super minimal and not how pictures perceive it.
I feel for this town, given the recent volcanic eruptions that left the city quite deserted. The hotel conditions may be a reflection of that, with only a handful of staff there to operate the front desk, clean rooms and manage the breakfast buffet.
Upon arrival, there was no staff at the front desk. There was a sign with a WhatsApp number to message or call, so fortunately one of the three other groups waiting to check in were able to get a hold of the receptionist.
In terms of the room conditions, there were still leftover food in our fridge from the previous guests, a dried up dirty towel in the shower, and hair left in the shower drain. On top of the poor room conditions, the shower head was broken and we had to find a creative way to keep it propped up + the pressure was really low.
One of the selling points of booking this hotel was the free breakfast buffet. We arrived around 9 am (breakfast is 7-10 am) and most of the food was running low and the one staff managing the area was trying her best to refill things. My appetite was quickly ruined when I found a strand of hair in the bowl of skyr. The coffee machine for guests was also sooooo bad, which is odd because they had a fancy machine behind the receptionist desk which was off limits.
All in all, the hotel did the job of providing a place to sleep close to the airport. But I was very excited and eager to check out.
Stay was alright, but lacked basic services that most hotels offer such as towels, bed making, etc. Breakfast was included and good. Bathroom was nasty and the hotel seemed to ration out small soap bottles. Suggest just installing dispensers in the showers to avoid this hassle
The hotel is simple but clean and comfortable. My only issue is it says free transfer to blue lagoon on their website, but this is not the case. We ended up spending a lot on taxis there and back as taxis are so expensive in iceland but there is no other method despite being only a 10 min drive away. Similarly it would be great if they could arrange an airport shuttle or be more knowledgeable about local transport, as again the airport is only 25 mins away but the only method was a £60 taxi.
