Those who travel from East like Trincomalee or Arugambay this would be an ideal rest stop. My meals by a la carte were delicious. "Mapakada Village is a beautiful hotel, tucked away from the regular tourist route - but it’s well worth heading here. "The place was absolutely beautiful. Our room had stunning views and the facilities overall were excellent, new and very well maintained. The food was great, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We also did a trekking tour organized by them, which turned out to be a wonderful experience. "This is an old hotel from Brits period. It is decently modern with hot/cold water showers comfortable beds with good linen. And the staff that work there are the most kindest and helpful people. Lovated right by the Buddhist Holy site, TheTemple of Tooth and the ancient lake, it is also very close for shopping as well Unlike many hotels in Kandy built on the mountain sides that require uphill downhill walksor TukTuks, Queens Hotel is right in the city. Only thing not to do is walking in the evening around the lake since all the birds in the world come to roost on trees around the lake. If you want to do a walk, go to the opposite side of the lake where paths are way from tree line. "
