Very friendly staff great breakfast food, walking distance to beach, staff isn’t on site 24 hours but this is my personal opinion. Everyone was still very accommodating and was just a phone call away, it was very nice!

Extremely wonderful stay twice in a week (we went back because it was so nice and so close to beach). Host was helpful with advice and taxis. Breakfast was homemade and amazing and different each day.

Nice place

It was amazing, my room was pretty big, shared bath room, but it was very clean. Great location, close to the beach. For the plateau you have to walk around 20 - 30mins. The street is very loud, but during the night there's not a lot of traffic. It was a very pleasant stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Syd's Guesthouse. Syd was very helpful with general advice and answering our questions. Everyone was helpful from picking us up at the airport late in the night to letting us stay one more night without notice. Breakfast is good and there is a restaurant in the guesthouse that seems quite nice.

Close to the beach with a nice patio. Syd was very nice and helpful. I found it a little difficult to check in because there is a locked gate out front that you can’t get through unless someone is there to let you in.

Quiet, residential neighborhood. A bit of a walk to get to any kind of convenience store. The room was serviceable with a shared bathroom and shower.

the apartment is located 10min away walk from the beach and in a perfect area - not too far from the main street and not too close to be disturbed by the traffic. The small garden in front of the apartment entry makes it even more convenient to just sit outside in the evening and enjoy a drink. Syd's also offer the option of breakfast and dinner to their restaurant/terrace which you walk through to get to the apartment. The food is tasty and price wise is also ok. I wish we would have had a schedule of when the restaurant is open as it seems it's not open every day. The apartment is clean and the fridge was filled with local beer and water.

The property is a small guesthouse with 3 rooms in a good area and close to the beach and some of the luxury hotels and is well priced. What was disappointing was the lack of engagement /interaction of staff. On arrival we were given a set of keys and essentially that was it . The owner is Sydney who I think appeared at brunch the following day but as she did not introduce herself to us not check how we were during our stay we weren't entirely sure. We were the only guests. In the evenings there is no one at the property and this was a little concerning particularly as there are multiple keys for access and barbed wire around the perimeters. On a positive note there is a lovely brunch served on weekends and taco nights that locals attend. The courtyard is lovely for relaxing.

We booked and paid for a 3-night stay 10 weeks in advance. Syd's confirmed our arrival time by email well in advance and kindly arranged airport pickup for us, etc. But 3 days before we arrived Syd sent an email saying they'd overbooked and we could only stay for 2 nights. She said we'd be accommodated in the suite for 2 nights (we weren't - we were put in the double room) and then we'd be refunded the cost of the 3rd night. We were already in Cape Verde by this point (Boa Vista), so we were scrambling trying to decide what to do, or where else to stay for the final night. hotels.com customer service tried to help, but were unable to get hold of anyone at Syd's that spoke English to confirm anything. In the end we just rebooked another hostel ourselves and waited for a refund from Syd's. When we did arrive at Syd's for check-in, Victor was kind and helpful (Sydney was out of town and we never met her the whole time we were there). We did get a cash refund for the 3rd night.......but it was massively inconvenient - and frustrating that we'd booked 10 weeks before but were only told we were being bumped off 3 days ahead. The guest house itself is nice, fairly clean, nice breakfast. Our first morning (Sunday) was brunch - the server didn't understand any English and kept calling Victor from the kitchen to come and help. They also wanted to charge us until we told them breakfast was included in our booking. Lots of people come for brunch so it was noisy all morning.
