"Vila Luz is a great family hotel. We stayed in the upper section which has an extremely heated pool. A bit warm when the temperature is over 30celsius, great when the temperature dropped to 20celcius. The bigger, lower pool is less heated and great when it's very hot. "The property and pool are both very nice and the views are amazing. The room we had was very dated, the bed was low and quite hard, there was no shower curtain so water sprayed all over the bathroom, and there was a slight smell of sewage coming from the toilet area. I think this was just particular to our room so I don't want to deter you from giving it a try because it's got some really good things as I mentioned above. Location is close to local grocery options, but a hearty walk to old town activity or the beach. I did the walk each day, but some may prefer a ride or bus."

The pool & spa were enjoyable. The staff didn’t seem to care nor were very helpful , again not something I’d expect from 5 stars. "pools were amazing, so was spa and most of all the buffet breakfast and dinner! we loved it and they can help with allergies. we stayed in the apartment and some ants but other than that, perfect stay!"

"Excellent hotel. Rooms are a great size with amazing balconies. Comfortable beds. Super clean. All the staff are great, from housekeeping to front desk! For us the breakfast had everything we needed/could have wanted. Location is good and despite the area seeming full cars we always found a spot outside the hotel during our stay. It's walkable distance to the beach and into town as well."
