"Beautiful location with spectacular views. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated and the bathroom was stunning. Breakfast is very good and they offer both buffet and full cooked options. The things that let it down were more to do with the poor staff attitude that we encountered at Sunday lunch and when I tried to check into our room. They didn’t seem interested in helping us and didn’t get our stay off to a great start."

"The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean it just lacked air con and with a tiny bedroom window regardless on the heating not being on there was hardly and airflow within the room. Couldnt fault anything else had a lovely stay"

"Beautiful hotel, second time staying for one night, breakfast included, evening meal have to book separately which was easy to do. Everything about this hotel, location, availability of rooms, staff and food was truly amazing. We will be booking again, probably near Christmas time."

"5 different members of staff spoke to me from the maintenance man, three of the desk team and two members of staff at breakfast. Felt very very welcomed and genuinely looked after. I usually stay at a Travelodge or a Premier Inn. I will only stay here now. Cleaner, better maintained, more friendly, good room design, useful amenities, handy alcohol vending machine. Free tasty breakfast. Quiet in the night. A great stay."

"Room clean . Comfortable bed complimentary water . Biscuits and good selection of teas and coffee even hot chocolate. Staff amazing couldn’t be more helpful. Breakfast amazing good parking plenty of spaces. The only downside for not very tall people the bath was quite high to get in to have a shower. Overall a lovely place to stay"

"This is a cute place to stay but a bit dated. It is dog friendly and it was lovely to see so many furry friends enjoying a trip! We stayed in a building round the back which had some quirky wallpaper but needed an upgrade. Interesting rules around breakfast which were explained in terrifying detail by staff who had been well briefed - "You have 30 minutes from when you enter until you must leave, and you can have one hot drink refill". That was a bit much, but we complied!"

"Quirky with some lovely staff in the evening in the restaurant. The gardens are also beautiful but small things could really enhance the hotel to get more from its potential. My stay improved after a few small disappointments. The room was warm and quiet. The meal on the second night was excellent (first night's green curry with poppadoms was less so and lacking in flavour)."

"I booked a standard ensuite double room but upgraded to the Tudor Suite. I chose this hotel because it is hundreds of years old, which is something we don’t get to experience much in the USA! The hotel obviously has all the charm of such an old place and would be awesome for a romantic getaway (although I was traveling alone on this trip!). There is lots of parking, which is free. "Very friendly staff, nice big room (called falow), excellent breakfast, excellent evening meal staff very helpful sorting out a taxi for us, the room was warm due to heatwave so needed to keep windows open so we did notice some noise from the kitchen fans but this could not be helped. Very good car parking. Overall an excellent 2 day visit and would highly recommend."

"Room 1 is extremely small, but was spotless and the bed extremely comfortable. There were too few staff. Service at dinner and the bar was very slow. Dinner wasn't as hot as it should have been. There was too much food on a small plate, I had to hunt under the chicken for my vegetables! Overall, it's quite expensive for food that although was delicious it wasn't hot and not served in a timely manner."
