"Third floor walk up room in furthest building from reception and after carrying our luggage up (no elevators) we come to find that our key cards don’t work. Pretty small room. Ok for a quick stay if coming in or out of SJO for the night. This is a 3 star hotel at best. "

"We liked our stay at this hotel, and like the Japanese restaurant, but here are things that could be better: initially we stayed in a room that was too noisy (facing freeway). Second, we would have liked to have more hand and face towels; there was only one for both my wife and I. The location of the hotel is not that good, in that there is no way to walk to any place, like outside restaurants and shops, so we had to always take taxis. The breakfast buffet was mediocre."

"While the property is in a very convenient location, its convenience comes at the cost of increased noise due to airport runways being across the street. It didn’t bother us during the day, even though the noise is very apparent, but did wake us up at night a few times; thankfully not a ton of traffic in the middle of the night. Possibly not as obvious if your room was situated on the opposite side. Despite the noise, we would stay here again due to cleanliness and convenience. I might just ask...

"I’m currently staying at the Hotel Santo Tomas and it’s a total standout. The building was originally built in 1908, and they’ve done an incredible job maintaining that historic character while keeping everything comfortable. Even though you’re right downtown and close to everything, the property feels like a private oasis. Once you step inside, you completely forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. "Clean room, helpful staff. Room a biyt outdated but nice and spacious with everything you need. Pool was excellent as were the grounds. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Nothing fancy but very tasty and well cooked, good value for money. 25 mins from airport (12km), easy drive just a little traffic to consider"
