Beautiful Setting lovely facilities two pools
Quiet private safe spacious secluded
Resort only has a few villas don’t feels exclusive in massive grounds
Lovely Villa with private outdoor sitting area
Fabulous breakfast
Host Thomas goes the extra mile nothing is too much for him and he makes you feel very welcome
Plus Loads of hot water
This place was amazing! The owner was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the pool was refreshing. Saw monkeys, a coati and a scarlet macaw on property. The bed was very comfortable and the property was beautiful. I can not say enough great things about this place!
Thomas was great! Very kind and went out of his way to make sure we had a good stay. Beautiful property where we saw beautiful birds, butterflies and monkeys.
Our 3-day stay at Margouillat was a wonderful escape. It is a beautiful property in the middle of the jungle with gorgeous views. The swimming pools are a must do. The cabins are spacious—ours had a separate sitting room. It gets our highest recommendation.
Thomas reminds me of the inn keeper in Local Hero. He is warm and welcoming with a wry perspective. He seems like a happy person, perhaps because he has created a little paradise here in Tambor.
My fiancée and I absolutely LOVED this beautiful lodge and the service here was incredible! It was one of our favorite places we stayed in Costa Rica by far and it was so neat to be submerged in the jungle nature while still feeling spoiled and serene. The howler monkeys like to make the most noise at night which can make it a little hard to sleep for some but it was also very cool to be right alongside their habitat. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay there again ourselves!
Thomas was a great host. He was super knowledgeable about area and even drove us to a couple places before we decided to rent a car. This is a hidden gem. We got to see monkeys from our balcony in their natural habitat
If you're looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this is it. I do recommend renting a car as things are a bit away. But close enough for day trips.
Private, cozy, quiet, and relaxing environment. Thomas was a very knowledgeable and generous host. Excellent accommodation for birders as there is many unpaved roads that take you to different birding habitats 5 to 20 minutes from the lodge - beaches to mountains. Definitely worth staying many nights to explore the southern part of the peninsula (Paquera to Cabo Blanco and beyond).
Property easy to find. Warm welcome. Gorgeous grounds. Bungalows are secluded and quiet with two pools and a bar on your doorstep. Only thing that surprised me: towels changed everyday.
Excellent holiday base, mingling peace and quick access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, fuel). Lovely safe and clean beaches (minimal waves).
Recommend Curú reserve. Bijou sized, easy walks, wildlife and paradise beach.
Best CR place so far!
This place is perfect getaway. If you need to get off the grid (although, you still have excellent internet reception) for a bit, fly into San Jose, rent a car, take a ferry and stay at this beautiful little gem. When you get there, you'll be greeted by Thomas, a great host and an even better man. Anything you need, Thomas either has it, or knows how to get it. Carlos, aka Charlie is around for assistance also, if needed. We stayed here for 7 nights, and loved every second. Our villa had a full kitchen, A/C if needed, nice sized private patio and a huge shower. So if you've packed on a few pounds, no worries....you and the significant other can still play in the shower together. We had fun. We'll definitely be back. P.S. be nice to the two Coati's who visit frequently, Wanchu and Pitchu.
Hidden gem! Compared to the places around it for the same price it's fantastic! Very well maintained and you can see the pride they take in keeping it. Highly recommend.
The property was gorgeous! very well kept up, having the 2 pools was nice. Our house was very nice, cute kitchen, very comfy beds, nice big bathroom and hot water! We loved the patio and cooking on charcoal grill. the internet in our house was very inconsistent, but the owner was very helpful and the wifi on the rest of the property was good. very personal service and attention to detail. The house was extremely clean and as an immune- compromised person, i felt very safe here. Was a good value and we would definatly recommend and return.
Great stay!
Very calm (4 hectars 8 small houses 2 pools) and quiet.
Wild and relaxing - strongly recommend if you want to visit curu (20’ by car) or even as a base for your paqueta ferry (30´)
Excellent breakfast with true bread and jam, fruits, eggs etc…
We were upgraded just because a better room was available
Very nice host - friendly and helpful
Hidden gem - go ahead!
I can't overstate how lovely our one night at Lodge Margouillat was. My partner and I stayed there to be close to the airport for our flight the next morning and were blown away by the beauty of the grounds and the hospitality of the owner Tomas. We even got to watch him feed a wild and rare kinkajou! Driving up winding dirt roads to reach the lodge, we didn't expect to be staying in such luxury. Truly an unforgettable glamping experience!
My husband and I live in Costa Rica and took a little vacation in Tambor to celebrate my birthday. It was a three-hour drive from Playas del Coco on very good roads. It was very easy to follow the signs to the hotel, which is a five-minute drive from the main road on narrow dirt roads.
We were disappointed when we arrived to find that there was a steep pathway from the parking area to the reception and rooms. However, the owner met us and helped carry our bags to the room.
The hotel consists of a main lodge/reception area where they serve breakfast and nine cabins tucking into the jungle. There are two swimming pools that looked very nice, but we didn't get a chance to enjoy them.
Our cabin/room was large with a king-sized bed, walk-in-closet, and a screened in porch. The bathroom was very nice with one of the largest and best showers that I've ever seen. There was great water pressure, plenty of hot water, and big cozy towels.
We stayed three nights. At first, we thought the 10-minute drive into Tambor was too far from the action, but it didn't seem so far after all, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The walkway didn't seem quite so steep by the time we checked out. Although, I wouldn't want to try it in the rainy season.
Highly recommended
