Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel

"Genuinely had a perfect experience with my week staying here! I'm from an area where AC is all but ubiquitous and I run warm, so I was a bit worried about the room being too hot. It wasn't an issue in the slightest! My room was laid out perfectly with a small balcony and multiple windows to capture the winds blowing through. I was perfectly comfortable and my room was equipped with a ceiling and floor fans for the rare times I wanted them. If anyone reading this is like me and reading reviews and worrying about the rooms being too warm, I can genuinely promise my room was never anything other than comfortable. Aside from the pleasant temperature, everything else was so smooth. I didn't stay at a peak tourist time, but there was always plenty of parking available. Staff were always pleasant and helpful, and housekeeping always made sure my room's trash was taken out daily. My room was very clean and cozy. Location is fantastic, quiet but a short drive from everything in the Hilo area. My balcony view of Reed's Bay was wonderful; I saw sea turtles almost every day right from my room! I also really appreciated the on-site laundromat. Check-in and check-out were smooth and simple. The hotel is older (and there is no elevator), but it's clean and has a lot of positives too. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat, zero complaints and a super pleasant experience from start to finish! Thank you for such a nice stay!"

"As soon as you pulled up the valet was very friendly and helpful with directions. The view to the ocean took my breath away as soon as you walked in to the main entrance. I enjoyed my stay and it was very pleasant having staff text me about current events and things going on around the area. For example the volcano being active so that we didn’t get to miss anything special about Hawaii. I didn’t even have to go anywhere and got to see sea turtles right outside the restaurant after breakfast the day before we were going to leave."

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hoomakai Blessings, a lovely little bed and breakfast on the Hilo side of the big island. Kelly is a kind and gracious host who went out of her way to work with my unforeseen itinerary changes and I really appreciated her help and positive attitude. My bed was soft and comfortable and the outdoor hot tub was just what my sore body needed after a long trek around the island. Breakfast consisted of a delicious southwestern style breakfast burrito and homemade muffins with a nice assortment of teas and a constantly available pot of hot coffee. In case you forget to bring them, Kelly even supplies earplugs for the nighttime coqui frogs and the morning roosters. Mahalo nui loa Kelly!"

"The front desk staff were Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! They immediately replaced the refrigerator when we told them the freezer wasn’t working! We were disappointed at first because the room had no TV, but it forced us to talk with others and catch up on what’s happening in our lives! We’ll definitely recommend Arnott’s Lodge in Hilo!!"

"Gorgeous setting and a nicely appointed house - had everything we needed! Communication through text/email for the check-in process was very straightforward. Our kids had a blast playing in the waterfall and sleeping in the loft. The stargazing is AMAZING if you get a clear night. This was a perfect, peaceful home base for exploring the Hilo side of the Big Island!"

"The ac works great , the room was extremely nice and clean. Room has both blinds and curtains. It is above Paul’s cafe which has great food. It is central in Hilo and most things are within walking distance. Farmers market is just down the street. It’s a small quaint hotel with nice rooms, plenty of parking. You should enjoy it as much as we did."

"Definitely stay here! The rooms are lovely as are the hosts. It's right on the water, a short walk or drive to the main shops & farmers market. Also a short drive to many lovely beaches. The breakfast was incredible - and they even accomodated gluten-free. Really great overall, great deal and we'll stay again if on Hilo!"
