Unique hotel with historic bones but modern rooms. See the100 yr old painting of the lady on the floor of the bar area and read the story behind it. Very good bar and restaurant inside the hotel
Loved our stay here! The hotel staff were so friendly and amazing. We loved the Grotto area at night to relax before bed. The restaurant and bar had a cool vibe with good food and drinks. Definitely would stay at this property again in the future
We had a beautiful stay in Ouray Colorado and staying at The Western Hotel and spa was terrific. Everyone was very kind and helpful, they made us feel like we were always a priority and never a bother. They all from front desk to dinner attendant to the manager were all willing to make sure we were satisfied. Wonderful people and place!
Lovely property . We would love to return and take advantage of the spa. We did not have time to do this on our overnight trip as it was closed an hour before the posted hours open on our stay.
Absolutely awesome property. Amazing personal customer attention

Not worth the money. This was roughly $750 a night and I expected a lot more for that price. The staff was friendly and helpful and the bar area was cozy with good service. But the room I was in was just weird. The lighting was terrible at night, with a couple of ugly scabbed on reading lights on the bed but very little light in the main tv area. Poor design and not really having the feel of a historic hotel. I can't recommend it.
An amazing new addition to Ouray. I've waited awhile to see the place open. The restaurant is AMAZING! I also loved the hotel guest room design. Very chic and the views and fireplace are amazing. Check out the spa on the lowest level.
Such an amazing place to stay and highly recommend it! We loved the room and the staff was amazing. We also recommend getting a drink at the bar and chatting up with John and Eric they will not disappoint. Chefs table for dinner is also a great experience and we highly recommend it. Over all this place will make you feel pampered and happy.
I had an amazing one-night stay. The room was very stylish and comfortable. The staff was exceptional! We tried out their bar and spa and both were fabulous. Big shout out to the bartender, Kelly for the amazing drinks and great hospitality!
This was the first time I have stayed at this property, and would do so again! Suzanne was there to greet my wife and I and showed us around, introducing us to the mixologist behind the bar, as well as the chef. Everyone working there was very nice and accommodating. The spa in the lower level was beautifully relaxing, and in the morning, the cold plunge was exhilarating! The dinner was the absolute best food I have ever consumed in Ouray!!! So glad we didn't explore other dining options! The Western Hotel is a pricier option than most in Ouray, but it is well worth the money!
Beautifully renovated property. Staff was friendly. Location was perfect in the middle of town and made everything very walkable. Room was well appointed and had great views.
The bathroom sink was clogged and didn’t drain well until we addressed it. Room needed a little more functionality with the location of the kitchenette sink and was a little short on storage space.
Although website does say no elevator, it does not say the stairs are very steep. And there's no one to help you with your bags. We had to carry our bags up three flights of stairs. The hotel was clean. The free snacks in the room was nice. The bed was uncomfortable (a thin mattress on a platform.) thankfully we only stayed one night.
I loved my stay at The Western Hotel and Spa so much that I extended it for another night! From the moment I arrived, the customer service made me feel completely at home—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My room was a cozy cocoon of comfort, the perfect retreat after a long day, with soft lighting and plush bedding that made it impossible not to relax.
The spa area was pure serenity. The dim lighting, rustic stone walls, and candlelit ambiance created the perfect atmosphere for unwinding. I indulged in both a massage and a facial, and they were absolutely incredible—deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. The attention to detail in the spa experience made it truly special.
On top of all that, the attached restaurant and chef-driven dining experience were phenomenal. Every dish was crafted with care, making every meal a treat in itself.
If you’re looking for a luxurious escape where you can truly relax, be pampered, and feel at home, The Western Hotel and Spa is it. I can’t wait to come back!
It is an historic and interesting place, rustic and unique in many of the right ways, but perhaps missing the mark on some comfort areas. Staff attentiveness is very low if not absent after mid-evening. For instance, we had no hot water for baths the first night, and there was no person onsite or on call to reach out to. We left a couple messages and heard back the next day with apologies and correction for the next night.
Hotel restaurant atmosphere and menu offerings were enjoyable. Food quality and wait staff were excellent.
There was a discrepancy associated with the cancellation policy and timing of room charges between Expedia and the property which fell into dispute. Property charged full amount without notice a week in advance and before Expedia’s stated cancellation allowance, and hotel management was completely uncooperative to discuss the discrepancy.
This was such a special spot in Ouray and we were so grateful to be so well taken care of by the staff. The downstairs pool and spa were a great escape at the end of a day of hiking and the bar area was packed in the best of ways. Bed was a bit hard in my opinion but the other small touches such a yogurt, granola, waters and fruits made up for it. Highly recommend.
