"It’s dated. Rooms are filled with insects as these are near trees. Pebbles between rooms made walking difficult especially when at night there were no lights between cabins. "

"The property is impeccable and the hospitality was delightful. What a location! Three excellent restaurants and a cafe within a couple of hundred meters. Beautiful beach, wonderful hiking trails. We had a great time decompressing and taking in the ambience. We'll be back!"

"The view for this property was absolutely amazing. We also appreciated being allowed in to the home approximately an hour before check-in time. The same thing we appreciated (the view) also led to allowing hundreds of mosquitoes to join us overnight. We are partially at fault for allowing waterfront windows to remain open for an unobstructed view later into darkness than we should have, but feel there’s more that could be done to prevent these pests from coming into the home (we saw many properties along The Strand with doors and windows wide open and inquired on their mosquitos… but we seem to be the only ones that received dozens of bites each while we slept). There were multiple insect plug-ins, but they did not seem to be functioning. Otherwise it was a nice stay in a somewhat dated property - possibly reflected in the price. Instructions for usage of the coffee pod machine would have been beneficial (even our MacGyver’s could not figure it out!). "

"Room was clean, we had all the essentials. We were just a small walk to the beautiful beach and good dining. We took city busses, and the stop was just in front of our hotel. Front desk attendant was VERY helpful, friendly and kind."

"Hidden Valley Waiheke was a highlight of our trip. The setting feels private and immersed in nature, yet still thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable. It feels intentional rather than styled, calm rather than performative. The host communication was excellent. Clear instructions regarding access, proactive guidance about the steep driveway (with helpful tips), and responsive email communication made arrival seamless and expectations well managed. Waking up to valley views and birdsong felt like a genuine reset. A rare, beautifully resolved retreat on Waiheke. Highly recommend."
