My experience

It was a very last minute booking and straight forward. The hotel is old but can't complain. The lady is very nice and friendly. We stay in the top floor, good view for a beautiful sunset.

Greeted by the owner who appeared to be alone. No assistance with baggage, no lifts. Same state as a 1970,s B&B. The owner was friendly and helpful. No breakfast, although tea and coffee were available in the room. The room was small and old fashioned, but clean. The best room was the bathroom which was just recently refurbished and almost the same size as the bedroom.

I paid £138 for 1 night as I was desperate. I would never go back to this place as it’s no palace. It has no breakfast included, no WiFi, no parking and no lift ( it’s five floors) the place is very very dated and needs a deep clean. I feel it’s easy to rob customers of their cash when people are desperate. The best thing about the palace is it’s situated on the main st overlooking the harbour ( I didn’t have a room with a view) I must say the bed was clean but very hard so no sleep for me. Safe to say I would stay well clear of the palace hotel

Charming but needs a hefty upgrade

Very friendly staff. Entrance lobby smells of urine or sewer, that was quite a put down. Bad smell stopped around reception floor. Room on 4th floor, no elevator and quite a hassle to het our heavy bagage up. Old carpet, albeit charming. The fuzz from the carpet stuck on everything. Staircase itself very prominent, pretty and charming. Typical hotel room with white hotel duvet. A bit weird and old pillows. LOVELY sea view over the town and water. Creaky bed, but we slept well, and the hotel stay did what it was suppozed to do. Unfortunately we didn't know to book breakfast in advance, so that's something for others to consider and remember! :) Very well placed hotel, and we felt that's the main part of the price. The price for one night at this hotel in it's current state is not equal to each other. Ergo, the price doesn't meet the standard one expects. Oban is a super cosy sea town and very beautiful in the sunset.

The property advertises that there is breakfast but perhaps because it’s October??? There was no breakfast facility available of any kind. And that was made worse by the fact that there were stickers and labels all over the property warning people not to bring any outside food and drink into the hotel! It seems ridiculous for not allowing bringing in an apple, an orange, a bit of instant porridge to save some money while travelling and use some boiling water? That doesn’t feel very welcoming or hospitable in the hospitality industry. I understand you don’t want some greasy sloppy food, but maybe be more explicit on that, or…. Provide some basic provisions for breakfast or snacks.

The bathroom was new and bigger than the room. Know one said we had to climb 8 fights of stairs to the tiny room. It was clean, but old furniture. It felt like a cheap, youth hostel. Very expensive for so little.

Ett äldre mysigt litet hotell. Vi hade tur som fick ett rum på 3:e våningen för det finns ingen hiss. Litet rum men rent och mycket skön säng. Toppen med badkar som vi passade på att nyttja. Vi åt frukost sista morgonen och den var god och väl tilltagen, dock ganska dyr. Ägaren jätterar och charmig och serviceminded. Läget perfekt. Vi saknade fri Wi-Fi men ett ställe nära (LuLu) hade bra uppkoppling så en drink och lite surfing blev bra.

long weekend stay.

Very comfortable bed, clean room and en suite. Had room with fabulous view. Can get a bit of road noise with window open but to be expected as right on the front. Very convenient for all amenities. Although not a problem for us, there is no lift but quite a few steps which should be a little more clear in the overview as could affect some people. Overall a good experience and would stay again.
