Staff were really nice especially young girl on reception is a asset to hotel. Feel hotel could do with bit of money spend on it as in an upgrade. Enjoyed our stay and will be back.

A very tired looking Hotel now. I have stayed here on other occasions in the past but it seems as if there's less staff and the staff who are there are asked to do more. The more I looked the more I saw that was worn out and tired. The food was not good to be honest .We ate out after our first meal. This Hotel could be the best one on the front if a decent upgrade were given. I must say that the staff were good and deserve praise .

The bathroom was in a disgusting condition the room was dusty, windows on inside dirty, understand that outside cannot be reached with ease..The price for the condition of the room was overpriced.I did report it to desk staff on checking out she seemed to think I was wanting a refund but this was not the case at all the lift was dirty, worn threadbare carpets on the staircase terrible decor on the walls of staircase on level 3 is appalling.. I will not be returning.. The only descent thing was the staff member that was serving in the bar, breakfast staff and breakfast dining room was okay and clean

Excellent value for money, very clean, staff easy to get on with and very helpful, food, good choice and well cooked. An outdoor area where guests could sit outside and enjoy a drink in the sunshine before dinner would be great but I appreciate that would be very difficult at some hotels. Overall 10 out of 10!!

For the price paid I expected more. The main decor was dated and marked by scuffs or water damage. The room was big but had no colour or identity. The en-suite bathroom was the worst with badly repaired towel rails and toilet roll holders. The shower didn’t drain until 5-10 minutes after a shower and you had to stand in your own dirty water. Fantastic location & friendly staff but that was drowned out by the state of the building & decor. I’ll be back in Oban but doubt I’ll book The Great Western Hotel again.

Had an excellent stay at the Great Western. View out to the bay from the bay windows. Great bar service who congratulated my fiancée and I with a complementary whisky. Very walkable to everything in town and the ferry. Comfortable bed and huge windows.
