The standout feature was the breakfast, which was incredible, with a great variety and high-quality options. However our 80 year old travelling companions who arrived around 7pm in the evening were told that even though they had booked and prepaid 6 months previously that the hotel was fully booked. They were shunted to an adjoining house and given an attic room accessed by an extremely steep staircase effectively a ladder. Compared to our room in the hotel itself, it was spartan. "Location is very convenient, room is nice but lots of issues : 1)- thermostat doesn’t work well, room either too hot or too cold. Notify staff and nothing was done. 2)- Mirror in bathroom if too dark and not useable. 3)- Staff on weekend has no knowledge of anything else except checking in and our for guests. 4)- Breakfast is nice but eating in the dark and low ceiling basement is not a way to start your day. 5)- management is completely out of touch on the weekend."
