A great place to stay in. It is not the type of modern hotel that we usually stayed in. But the feel is different. There’s warmth and a lot of history in the hotel. The staff are also really helpful. The onsen is also a really good experience for us first-timers. The location is also good as its in between the heritage sites and ski resort. I highly recommend this place.
While we found the hotel to be very comfortable, there were a couple of drawbacks. It's rather remote with very few restaurant options nearby, meaning that we had to eat at the hotel restaurant. While the meals were good, they were pricey.

There is nothing in the bin 70 of the hotel. You have to use the hotel restaurant which is good but expensive. You cannot see the lake because of the trees and you hear the noise from the street in front when sleeping with open window
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is exceptionally friendly and give superb customer service. The elegant dining room menus for dinner are outstanding and the attention to each detail and is fun to watch unfold with each course. I especially enjoyed the Japanese breakfast option and again every detail is impeccable.
The onsen is relaxing and the lake is close by. The hotel shuttle bus is convenient and again the staff is a great asset. We will definitely stay again.
Convenient stopover, on bus route to yumoto onsen and hiking trails.
Lovely onsen at the hotel which we used after hiking and in late evening.
Half board option gave us an excellent dinner in Japanese/French style
