Advertised on expedia as having a pool and restaurant. They did have them, but neither were open or functional. Wanted both with young children a pool was important. Reserved a room with 2 queen beds, they gave use a one bed room. 4 people would not fit. They did quickly correct this error. Just took time and added to the confusion and disappointment.

The representation of Shilo Inn itself was drastically misleading on the Expedia website. The Pool/Restuarant &Lounge/Cafe were all permanently closed, for over a year, according to the front desk staff. As for the room, that hasn’t been updated for a while. There was large holes in the window sheers, damaged furniture, toilet seat was broken, and the caulking in the tub was old and crumbling and held mold, and the tub had chips out of it. No breakfast offered, but good restaurants within walking distance.

The room was ok, the furniture had multiple signs of damage and repair. The entry door had a large gap up top that just allowed cold air in, thank goodness the heater worked well. It also had dirty cuetips still on the floor from previous renters. There was old sidding and gutters stored under the stairs right by our room, so it looked kinda junky. The pool and restaurant were closed for " repairs" so no pool or breakfast in the morning. The view was nice, but not certain I would stay here again. Im glad I got off season rates.

My wife is immuno-compromised and the doors and walls were disgustingly dirty like they'd never been wiped off. There was a sump pump just outside our door that came on every 20 minutes, and our room was directly under the office.

Website says restaurant on site. It’s been closed 6 years. Room smelled like they were trying to cover up something. When we checked in we were told they didn’t have maids so if we needed anything let them know and they would try to help. Luckily we didn’t need anything. Staff was nice. Great view building needs some love

Room was great, the ocean view was too. Shower was clean yet old. The pool was not in use and there was no breakfast available.

Exopedia never ensured the hotel reservation was confirmed and there where no rooms when I showed up to check in. I doubt if I will ever use Expedia again for any of my travel.

Didn't realize they don't clean the room if you stay more than one night, asked for extra towels and were brought old possible pool towels. Room wasn't very clean; heat source was outdated as well as the room.

Multiple issues with our room. This hotel was listed as having free breakfast as well as a restaurant on site... none of this was true. The restaurant is completely closed down and roped off. And no complimentary breakfast was provided. Also, our room smelled badly of fish. Not like good ocean smell, more like someone stored dead fish in the room and forgot them. I had to use incense to cover the smell. It was too cold to open the windows for very long. Our room was clean-ish. Found a granola bar wrapper by the bed. The upholstered chairs were stained and one had a lemon-sized hole in the fabric in the side. The beds were very firm with little to no give. All the light fixtures were either broken, stained, or need updated bulbs. The room was very cold when we got there. If they know the room is going to be occupied, the heat should be on, especially since were there in winter, and it was raining and windy. The only heat for the entire room (with two sleeping areas) was a small wall heater (like 8" wide and 12" tall), so one bed area eventually got very warm and the other was cool. You couldn't close the bathroom door unless you scooted behind the toilet. The sink area was very small. Only one person could be there at a time which doesn't make sense for a room with two queen beds. There was lovely hot water though! And a great ocean view plus beach access (89 stairs down to the beach)!

The view was very nice. Room was hot, not enough airflow. Pool was not working. Mechanical sound woke us up at 5 am. Bed was very comfortable

Terrible

This was so mis advertised by hotels.com, there hasn't been a restaurant for 5 years and the pool has been under construction for a few years. The hotel doesn't look like any of the pictures that were shown, the hotel felt so unsafe that we slept with the desk in front of the door. We booked 2 nights and left after the first, was completed disappointed and would never recommend this to anyone.

False advertisement! Beware! Hotels.com has wrong pictures of this hotel. The restaurant has been closed for 5 years. The pool is also closed for repairs. The staff were very friendly. The owner of this property needs to attend to this property!

The rooms are very dated and multiple rooms had dangerous conditions. None working electrical outlets. Too many items plugged into limited outlets. No screens on 3rd floor windows. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind but the building is unsafe and in desperate need of repairs. The pool was closed and no mention of that was made when booking. This caused a very big disappoint for our trip. The view is incredible but for the cost there is much that needs improved

The staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a nice view of the ocean. I would describe the room as a fixer upper. We stayed with 2 queen beds, only one had a nightstand and a bedside light. The bathroom was small and tight. All the onsite restaurants are closed and much of the building for sale. At >$200/night, it is a poor value for the price.

Water pressure is great, noise level not so great. Property clearly hasn't been updated in a long time, pool was not in use (water wasn't filled in pool), and internet was spotty. Otherwise, staff seemed friendly, place was clean, and felt safe.

Great ocean front view. Restaurant & cafe are permanently closed. Pool area is permanently closed due to disrepair. Room has stale odor, but the sheets were clean. We were told the local fish factory has rented most of the rooms at this hotel for their migrant workers from Ecuador and Guatemala. Not worth the price we paid.

Shocking!! Avoid!!

So, not a great experience here and not one Hotels.com should continue to use and promote. Check in was slow due to ‘computer issues’ probably the Windows 94 based system in keeping with the rest of the complex! Main building was closed for sprinkler systems renovation (lies as the building has been condemned by the local fire department) Pool was also closed for refurbishing - again closed and condemned! The room was so tired and in need of upgrading - musty and so dated. Roof is leaking and gutters missing in places. The tv and electricals were almost as old as me (and i’m no spring chicken) A saving grace was the view - through the salt stained and bird muck covered windows. Clearly in need of knocking down and rebuilding on a prime site (which i suspect is what the owners are waiting for) It’s dead - just doesn’t know it yet…. Avoid and use elsewhere.
