We always stay at The St. James hotel when we are in New Orleans. We can walk to the quarter but the St. James is in a quiet area. Breakfast at the Ruby Slipper was excellent nearby.

The location is very nice. Walking distance to the french quarter but also far enough out to be quieter. The room was kind of musty smelling because you cannot open the windows facing the street. The building is definitely sinking (as is most of the city) so the room was kind of tilted and the dresser drawers would not stay shut. Bed was extremely comfortable and everything else was great.
