Rising up like a magnificent glass cathedral over the medieval stronghold of Fort Thüngen, this museum is the city’s premier destination for contemporary art.

Mudam’s magnificent architecture is one of the museum’s defining features. Designed by famed Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei, the museum has a prism-like glass façade extending out of the ruins of the 18th-century Fort Thüngen. The museum’s glass canopy provides new perspectives on the art and architecture at different times of the day.

Time your visit to coincide with a programmed event, including lectures in the auditorium, workshops and educational activities in the studio and special screenings in the museum’s Medialab multimedia room. Stop at the Mudam Café for a luxurious lunch of regional dishes in the outdoor courtyard. The Mudam Boutique has a wide selection of designer gifts, homewares, accessories and souvenirs, as well as an extensive stock of art books and magazines.
