Built in the 18th Century by the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the Gothic Revival style, Mount Stuart is one of the worlds great houses. The Mount Stuart House contains the world's first heated pool in any house and was the first home in Scotland to be lit by electricity. Similarities exist between this house and Cardiff Castle (Wales) and Dumfries House (Dumfries Galloway) as the Marquess influenced both designs and furnishings.
