Mossbrae Hotel is a small and elegant place to stay right on the Main Street in Dunsmuir. You can walk to a couple cafes nearby (but not open all days). I was in room 4 and it was lovely and the bed very comfy, tho it did crick when I turned over. Lol. TV has many apps to choose from. Shower very large and nice. I enjoyed my stay very much and will certainly stay there again when visiting family there.

Beautiful original features that were unique. The area is beautiful, but the town has a lot of abandoned buildings, and limited dining experiences. It looks like they are trying to revive the town with a beautiful mural and it is worth reviving! It is a beautiful location with a lot of history and a great vibe. Just unfortunate loss of businesses probably over the last 5 years.

Great place on road trip from Bay to Seattle

Perfect place to stay on road trip from Bay Area to Seattle. Room was great, wonderfully appointed, and loved the French Press for morning coffee. Will definitely come back!

The interior has been tastefully renovated and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately, the town of Dunsmuir has seen better days and we were a little uneasy with parking our car on the street overnight.

The only surprise was lack of elevator. I only had three bags to carry, could be worse! The room and hotel in general is immaculate. I especially loved the huge bathroom. Quiet and comfortable. A nice eatery across the street. Easy walk to the train station.

This was clearly the sweet spot of downtown Dunsmuir. Small boutique hotel with only 7 quiet rooms, well-appointed with a French press, comfy bed linens, large clean bathroom, and the coolest electric tea kettle. Would definitely stay here next time in the area.

Exceeded expectations

I was pleasantly surprised to find an electric hot water kettle, French press, and tea options in my room. After a long drive, the hot chamomile tea was perfect before bed. I was also so grateful to find a cold bottle of water in the fridge. The room was comfortable and I had everything I needed for my brief overnight stay. I’d recommend and will return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mossbrae Hotel. The room was lovely with a comfortable bed and other amenities. Overall, we were very pleasantly surprised as Dunsmuir is a small town. Would gladly stay there again.

There is no staff on site but Jerilyn answered immediately when I called to verify the entrance codes. The place is clean and very comfortable and nicely updated. The town has seen better days and remains quaint despite its recent challenges—it has a ton of potential. Excellent breakfast at the cornerstone cafe across the street. Beer up the road was also tasty. Note that only room 7 is on the entry level and there is no elevator. Out the back door is a nice deck area with a grill. We didn’t use — it looked tempting.

Mossbrae Hotel is a lovely decorated boutique hotel in Dunsmuir, CA. Our accommodations were spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed was so, so comfortable, the bathroom had two sinks and many extras, and there was lots of drawer/closet space! We would definitely recommend this hotel for those visiting the Mt. Shasta area! Our only wish would be that for the price of the accommodations a more convenient breakfast would have been available (the make-your-own oatmeal wasn't easy to make and no milk was provided). We did find an incredible bakery/cafe, Bee Kind, a couple blocks away that had amazing and delicious pastries, frittatas, and sandwiches that were made fresh daily and variety of coffee and other drinks! And, just a heads up, you'll need to go to Mt. Shasta City for restaurants.

The refurbished building has been well updated. The room was very comfortable and all systems were updated and working well. It was quiet (mostly) with the exception of the trains, which thankfully did not run that frequently. All in all a very nice facility. It is essentially a contactless facility with electronic entry etc. I would stay here again. Dunsmuir is a very agreeable town.

Super cute hotel in lovely old building that has been beautifully renovated. Had passcode to enter at front and at room. Texted with hotel staff but didn’t see anyone. We came in a snowstorm and late, but town seems cute. Quiet, clean, and lovely room. Easy with our dog.
