Fantastic Place to stay and very smart idea with Breakfast where you can cook your own Bacon and Eggs in the kitchen or have cereal, tea and Coffee maker etc.
Definitely worth the stay. All the staff very friendly and the $20 - 2 Course Lunch is like stepping back into 1990's prices. Will stay again if I get the chance.
The room had a beautiful ambience. It was probably a shame that we couldn't access the streaming services without our own account. The DIY included breakfast was a lovely surprise for the price.
Excellent in every way
No door on bathroom was “different”
Fabulous bed
2 flights of stairs to room & carpark out the back
Would stay again
Great location
Property focuses on F&B and gaming, and only has three suites. Was mentally prepared for some noise, but all was good. Service was warm and friendly. Recommend this to anyone going to Mt Gambier.
Oct 2024. It's a roadhouse type facility. Bar restaurant downstairs, 3 nicely renovated room upstairs. Quiet.
Our room was huge and comfortable.
Shared kitchen down the hall....the hotel provided bacon / eggs / bread cereal for breakfast - cook yourself with supplied pans / utensils.
Lots of free parking behind. Bottle shop on premises. Short walk to bars and restaurants.
Recommended.
Very happy with it and would give it 10/10 if the sofa bed is a lot more sturdy and firm. Highly recommended and really value for money for such a high quality room.
Our first ever stay in a "pub", and we weren't disappointed. The room size was immense and had all we needed for a stopover as we made our way back home. The check in was quick and easy with a very lovely lady greeting us on arrival and we think was the same pleasant lady we spoke to on the phone. The historic building itself was beautiful too. Breakfast provisions in the shared kitchen added to the value. WE would definitley stay here again.
Boutique accommodation of a high standard with only three suites which are very secure. It had an old world charm with modern conveniences.
Only real gripe was the shower which went cold after a while. Had to keep turning it off and on again to get the hot water back.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
No reception, no lift, and parking was too far away.
Otherwise, all other aspects were most enjoyable.
Strictly only for the young and energetic.
The property was pleasantly surprising and very different in appearance from the basic condition of the hotel below. It was nice to see the supplies in the kitchenette we had access to. Beautiful high ceilings and styled nicely.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating for us - helping us with the storage of our bikes etc.
The only minor negatives we had was the showerhead - it was too high-pressured and narrow, making it an uncomfortable shower, And we couldn't 'cast' to Netflix, but may have been a user error ;-)
Have already recommended to friends, and would definetly return.
There were only 3 renovated rooms upstairs from the hotel gaming venue and restaurant. It did not look attractive from the outside from the street, but the room (Pierce) was better than expected. The rooms have been tastefully renovated. Our room was spacious for a family of 3 for a 3 night stay in Jan 2023. It had everything we needed. There was a separate communal kitchen for hotel guests. Bacon, eggs, bread and milk were included. Guest were welcome to use all the kitchen facilities provided. Staff were friendly. Our room was quiet. We couldn't hear the noises from the downstairs or the street at night. Highly recommended!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
The shower ran cold after 3 minutes, just enough to lather up and then have to wash off in stone cold water in May!!!! I stood in the shower waiting for hot water to come back until I was shivering uncontrollably.
There are many issues with this hotel and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
The staff were very friendly however. But there was no one available to talk to re hot wayer
It was a good experience. Helpfull staffs and relatively quiet downtown accommodation. Experienced loud music from adjacent rooms during the weekend nights but got stopped by 11:00 pm. The management Seriously need to get rid of that dirty old Sofa in the Matthew living room as it is awful with dirty spots and marks…otherwise it deserve a five star. Will nmot be suitable for elderly folks who will not be able to climb two flight of stairs carrying luggage up and down.
Very dissapointing. After booking and paying for the lavish, well appointed, Matthew Suite our experience was completely ruined by a speaker pumping out heavy music downstairs in the pool table bar, directly underneath us. We couldn’t even hear the TV. This place is OFF my list. Never again
