"I thought l'd already done this, but everything was fine, except it took me an hour to find it from being sold by my sat nav that l had arrived then it went dead! I was on a very dark motorway with no sign of an exit, l went round the countryside for ages, till someone told me you could only get at it from junction. 16, when going north ( not at all from the other way!)

"Stayed at the hotel a few years ago and we were very pleasantly surprised with the improvements that have been made. We had a lovely quiet room on the first floor overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was very good on both mornings and we had dinner each evening which was excellent. Lovely menu and served piping hot.
One thing we found strange that the drinks tray in the room had coffee, tea, sugar, lovely biscuits but only one hot chocolate. We both fancied a hot chocolate at bedtime but were disappointed to find only one
It was quite warm in our room, but I found a fan on the shelf in the wardrobe. Unfortunately when I plugged it in and switched it on I got a face full of dust.
Just minor niggles but small things can make a big difference."
"The Dumfries Holiday Inn was an overnight stay for us. The room was large and comfortable, and in the new part of the building. It was clean and functional and we had no complaints. The dinner was of a good standard, and the staff handled a change of order mid-way well. We had wine served in a slightly dirty glass, but that was dealt with promptly and with an apology and minimal fuss. The bar staff, waitress and waiter couldn’t have nicer. There was a suggestion made about a walk round the really interesting grounds of the university that the hotel sits in. The waitress knew about a map that reception had but the receptionist did not. That was sorted, so an early morning walk was taken and enjoyed. Breakfast was good and very much enjoyed. Check out was simple. A good hotel, that we would recommend and would stay at again."
"Very friendly staff, beautiful house and grounds (lovely walled garden to walk in). Food was excellent also. Room was cosy and pretty. Thoroughly recommended"
"Our room was big and very comfortable and the mini fridge with water and fresh milk was a nice touch. The shower door was a bit dodgy and needs looking at. Breakfast choice and quality was excellent and all cooked to order. Service was pleasant and efficient. We found a free parking space directly opposite the hotel and, even though it is on the main road through Moffat, we didn't find it noisy or too busy to cross the road. If you were there for long enough, it's worth noting that the Edinburgh bus leaves from outside the hotel making a day trip to the capital possible without using the car. We would use this hotel again if in the area."
"Room and facilities were nice. Location was good. Leisure facilities were good.
Parking, especially Disabled Parking ,was inadequate at weekend .
Overall a pleasant stay"
