The Dusk to Dawn Farm Guesthouse is “outstanding!” We were surprised to be given an upgrade, and the cottage was absolutely stunning. It had a downstairs with kitchen, living room and tv, bedroom and large bathroom. The upstairs had a living room, bedroom and bathroom. Both had breathtaking views of the farm. The cottages are nicely decorated and quite cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed all the farm animals (cows, ducks, chickens, pigs, donkeys, etc.), as well as the wildlife. There were swing sets, miniature golf, tree hut, sandbox and pool for one to enjoy. The breakfasts were scrumptious, including fresh eggs, homemade jams, honey, breads, and much more! There was also a country store to purchase farm made meals, and certainly were a welcoming site since we did not want to go to town to eat. The store had a variety of arts and crafts to purchase, and I bought quite a bit! Most of all, the hosts (Gudrun and Johann) deserve recognition for their genuine hospitality. They certainly have created a beautiful, most welcoming guesthouse with all the amenities, and such a serene atmosphere. The details such as quotes in the garden and in the dining room shall always be treasured! The staff deserve recognition for their friendliness, attentiveness, and for such beautiful crafts! We would not hesitate to come back here and we really wished we could have stayed much longer. We enjoyed the serenity, as well as the farm experience. Thumbs up to the Dusk to Dawn Farm Guesthouse!

A really friendly and thoughtful owner. We were going to cook our own food, but they even had ready meals at reception for us, which were really tasty. We had a lovely walk around the farm in the morning before heading off on our way. The breakfast was lovely and made with local produce.

Dusk to Dawn review

We enjoyed our stay at Dusk to Dawn, near Piet Retief over the Easter weekend. Gudrun and her family ensured that we had a comfortable stay, we enjoyed the farm, the surrounding scenery, the birdlife and the working farm. Highly recommended!

Leute es lohnt sich! Wir hatten hier nur einen kurzen stop over von einer Nacht. Die Lodge befindet sich direkt auf einem landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb. Es gibt viel zu entdecken und zu erkunden! Man fühlt sich super sicher und kann sogar spazieren gehen! Das Essen und die Bungalows sind einfach nur 1 Klasse! Sehr freundliche Deutsch sprechende Besitzer, man fühlt sich zu Hause! Sehr schöne Unterkunft bei Piet Retief. Ideal zur Zwischenübernachtung auf dem Weg von Süden nach Norden vice versa. Haben in einem kleinem Cottage gewohnt mit schönem Ausblick auf die Berglandschaft und die Felder. Das Cottage hatte zwei Stockwerke mit zwei Bädern und einer Küche. Von Mikrowelle bis Herd war alles vorhanden. Da es sich um eine aktive Farm handelt, sind viele Kühe und andere Tiere in der Umgebung und auch die dort lebenden Hunde haben uns freundlich begrüßt. Der Garten der das Haus umgibt ist sehr schön angelegt und lädt zum schlendern ein. Die beiden Gastgeber, Gudrun und Johann, waren sehr freundlich und haben sich viel Zeit für uns genommen. Für einen Zwischenstop sehr zu empfehlen. Immer wieder gerne!

Overnight farm stop off N2 driving to Joberg

This is a charming resort on a full fledged active farm. To reach it, you have to drive down a very rugged dirt road. There's a nice pool, very good wifi and welcoming hosts. You buy prepared food from the hosts and microwave it in your unit for dinner. You can sit outside and overlook the farm while you eat. A very elaborate breakfast is included and prepared for you in the morning.

Wonderful over night stop, or spend a few days. . Peace, tranquility on a working farm which has been in the same family for over 100 years. Delightful accommodation in various size units to cater for all your self catering needs. Includes a gourmet breakfast served by the charming owner, hostess, Gudrun.

Perfect place to relax and unwind

After a night flight a night here was perfect. We didn’t even need to find lunch and dinner as the deli is so well stocked. Lovely walks and we enjoyed being accompanied by the dogs who showed us the way. Beautiful and serene place to stay. Staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Highly recommend Robins Nest for couples who want a bit more space.

Hidden gem

Wonderful cottage with everything you need in a beautiful scenery. Breakfast is amazing with fresh and homecooked products. I would recommend Dusk to Dawn to friends and family.
