We travel to Midland once a month and stay in different suites in the area. This was my first time staying with comfort suites which was really nice. However, on my first night we did have an incident with the fire alarms going off in the hotel room. it was after midnight when we were showering because we had been working and traveling all day. The steam from the shower set off the smoke alarms. I started panicking and called the front desk. The girl said to open the door and let the steam out of the room, so we did that. Then The alarms went off again, and I kept trying to call the front desk, got a busy signal. The next thing I know, there is a knock at the door from the same girl who knew I was in distress over the alarms going off, also the same girl who told me to open the door and let the steam out. She came to the room and said we were being loud and needed to quiet down. I was super annoyed by that point, even while I was talking expressing my concerns about the alarms going off twice! She went on to say that I was speaking too loud! She should have gone there to make sure we were OK with the smoke detectors going off and apologizing for that inconvenience! It was really disturbing for us. I struggle with severe anxiety and Raynaud’s disease, therefore I need to take hot showers to help my circulation.
I don’t understand why there is not better ventilation in the restrooms, that according to this rude young girl, alarms have been set off by shower steam before.
