This is a lovely quiet place to stay. The Mansion has very spacious and nicely equipped rooms and sits in the middle of a large garden with many trees and plants and active fountains. There are a couple of peacocks ranging about, as well as a very large tortoise. The staff is very friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English. When I return to CDMX with my wife, I will surely stay there again
Great place with a wonderful, helpful staff and close to Central Coyoacan for great food, shopping and cultural stuff. Everyone was delightful; breakfast with the peacocksaround the fountain was a daily highlight. Just a very nice place to stay in Coyoacan!
The hotel is so beautiful and we loved all the animals! In addition to peacocks, they also have a giant tortoise and a cat. The staff was all very friendly and so kind and helpful. Highly recommend!
We are so impressed with our stay at Mansion Papilio! We arrived about an hour before check in and weren’t able to check in right away, however, we were immediately greeted by the most courteous staff and had assistance with our bags. Additionally, while we waited for our room we were brought glasses of complimentary wine and offered to order an amazing meal while we waited. The garden just outside the front of the mansion is where we were able to eat and it was such a pleasant experience. The staff was so attentive the whole way through making sure to check on us, bring us more wine or whatever we needed until our check in at 3PM! When we arrived in the Mansion to Check In, the appearance and aroma inside was spectacular. It was finely decorated for the holidays on top of having beautiful decor already! It was surprisingly very clean (sometimes hard to find with older style buildings). The room was spotless, everything was neat, clean, and felt fresh! In our bathroom, there was a massive shower and Jacuzzi tub and we had no issues with hot water at all, which I was a little skeptical at first because it is also hard to find scorching hot water in older style homes like this. During our stay we also were able to do the S’Mores and Fireplace experience in our room which was very easy to request at night time with the overnight staff! The staff was very courteous, helpful, and pleasant; not overbearing which I really enjoyed. It is a perfect 5 min walking distance from city!
The property was lovely. It is reminiscent of a gentler time. The peacocks add a touch of elegance that is emphasized throughout the entire property. Just beautiful.
Alan and Julieta were extremely helpful in caring for us. Wonderful history tour for the facility. Very informative. Walkable to Frida Kahlo and mercados.
Alonzo, Enrique, and Valeria at the reception were amazing! They checked in on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed; I was working on a project with a deadline and they went out of their way to support me. They even brought me a glass of wine when they saw I was stressed.
Beautiful oasis, circa 1923 property with wonderful staff, great location, solid breakfast, and (most importantly) peacocks roaming the property. We stayed in the Juliette room set off to the left of the property and liked the privacy. There were several private experiences for other guests — al Fresca cinema, an engagement proposal with a rose-lined walkway to a giant rose heart in the back courtyard, and a private dinner in the wine cellar. We only had one night but would definitely come back and stay longer.
The Mansion Papilio is like transporting yourself back in time. My sister and I stayed three nights and it is not just for couples, we enjoyed every minute during our stay. From the peacocks to Picasso the cat and the sulcata tortoise to the furnishings, architecture, lawns and serenity. But what stood out the most was the beyond excellent service provided by our Mayordomo Alan. He gave us a tour of the Mansion and knows so much about the mansion’s history. He worked around the clock tirelessly to make sure we had everything we wanted. Even special requests like my non alcoholic cold beers! He is such an inspiration of loving his job and it shows his commitment to excellent service. We already miss the Mansion and we miss Alan as well. We are already planning our next stay!!! Thanks to everyone at the Mansion!
My stay overall was pretty good. The room was spacious and the property well maintained and very unique with a terrific location near many activities and restaurants in the center of Coyoacan.
I have a few suggestions to make service a bit stronger, related to sharing more information should be provided upfront to help visitors (especially foreigners who don't speak Spanish) with instructions and tips upon arrival and basic / common FAQs, including:
- provide the gate code in advance so that visitors are able to come in and not get confused waiting outside on the small sidewalk
- communicate some common FAQs about the WiFi, water and other items ahead of guests arrival (I only later noticed that a lot of this information was actually provided in a booklet inside the room)
- since the staff don't speak English, it makes it even more important to facilitate easy and timely communication of questions and requests especially during hours when the staff are not readily visible / reachable.
Thank you!
Mansion Papilio is so much more than just a convenient place to stay for visiting Coyoacan. The mansion has been beautifully restored, the attention to detail is exquisite. I felt like I was staying in someone’s home. It’s very private and secure. The grounds at the front and the back of the mansion are fabulous too. Everywhere is beautifully maintained. I loved seeing the resident Peaocks and Peahens, which freely roam around the gardens. I received a lovely warm welcome from Beni, who was helpful throughout my stay. Beni also plays the guitar (classical and contemporary) during breakfast. This was such a treat, he is an exceptionally talented musician. I stayed longer at breakfast just to enjoy the music each morning. Anastacio is also great, he was very attentive and provided very high standards of service during breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Housekeeping do an excellent job too, ensuring everywhere is spotless. I loved my visit to Coyoacan and staying at the mansion made it even more memorable. Thank you to the whole team for making my stay extra special!
