close to vital areas of marion.

Beautiful building but they need work and new business plan and over haul. Very nice people trying to help keep the business alive.

Dirty

This hotel is very old and dirty! There is not enough cleaning staff.

This place was closed with a chain and pad lock on the front doors.

Borders Inn, Marion Indiana

I booked this hotel thru Expedia. When I arrived the hotel was closed with chains on the door. I had to try to find another hotel on my own. I found out this hotel had been closed for over a month. Expedia should have known this and booked this hotel. I will never use Expedia again!

Very Comfortable Stay

Decent Hotel with amazing stuff. We were stuck at the hotel due to polar freeze. The staff made sure we had lunch dinner and made us comfortable beyond expectation.

The rates were very reasonable

It was an enjoyable time. We were greeted in the restaurant by a very friendly person who talked to us quite a while. The food was very good and a good variety.

Friendly and helpful staff

We booked the room on line and weren't able to get the third night. When I called the hotel directly, they not only booked us for the third night, but gave us 2 doubles instead of a king sized bed. The staff was exceptional and made our stay very pleasant. The only complaints we had were that the outside pool was already closed even though it was the end of August and there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Okay for the money

Room was fine. Only 2 working light bulbs, but we didn't stay in our room much. Carpet in hallways was bubbled up. But room was fine.

Very comfortable beds - slept very deep. Owners work very hard to improve this property which was neglected for a long time.

The Marion Bates hotel

We had a broken heater, they moved us to another room,that had no towels, lightbulbs or a blanket for the bed. The room was dusty and stale. The other room had ants all over the bathroom floor and the security latch on the door was busted. The elevator didn't work every time . Finally the carpet on the third floor was buckled the full length of the hall. We renamed it the Marion Bates Hotel.

Hotel Marion should be be a zero star.

We booked this through hotels.com, told people about it and everyone said to try to not stay at the Hotel Marion. We decided to give it a shot. After checking in, we walked down a dark hallway (in the daytime) and felt like we had entered the twilight zone. This made Motel 6 look nice. We actually drove 30 minutes to another town to find a different room. Don't ever stay there.

Hotel Marion - THE SHINING

If you have ever seen the movie The Shining, this hotel reminds me of it. This hotel is in some serious need of renovation. Yes, its cheap, but scary cheap! Carpet in rooms and halls have seen their last days, holes in bathroom walls where water leakage has seaped through, loud tenants, smells you can't identify, windows you can't see out of due to water residue...almost left the second we got there. I will say one thing that has its saving grace and that is the hotel staff, Jenny in particular, she really tries hard to make people feel welcome but unfortunately you can't paint a pig. If this hotel did some serious remodeling it would be a nice little charmer. Otherwise, stay away!

Hotel Marion

This is a nicely renovated old downtown hotel. While the amenities do not compare to more expensive hotels, it was reasonably clean and the staff (though very short handed) was friendly and helpful. For the price, I would definitely stay there again.

not impressed

Hotel staff tried to be helpful, but nothing to work with. Hallway dim, rug coming up, card key kept failing. No restaurant, a few expensive snacks behind lobby counter. Rooms need to be painted and cleaned from floor to ceiling. Hotel needs to be refurbished totally. We chose it because they allow smoking, and my husband smokes. Regardless, next time we visit Marion, we will select a different, non-smoking hotel.

Would NEVER go back

The entire building smelled of mold. There was mildew in the dresser drawers and on the shower curtain. A hole in the wall with ants swarming. Exterior not mowed and weedy. No restaurant on premises as advertised. Desk clerk was friendly but unhelpfull in solving any issues.

Marion Hotel - Formerly the Sheraton

Where else can you stay in a former Sheraton for this price? Yes, it is an older hotel and yes, its upkeep is lacking, but overall for the price, it was good especially compared to what was available otherwise. Although it is only a couple of blocks from City Hall which includes the police station, the dimly lit parking lot leaves a bit to be desired. If you park near the front entrance, it's not so bad and likely if I spent more time in the area, I might feel better about it. There does not appear to be a program in place to replace the light bulbs as they burn out. That is one thing that I think the management would do well to give more attention to. Essentially, what you have is a very large hotel (five floors) in an area where the economy has hit hard. I can appreciate the fact that with as little flow of potential guests, it is no surprise that there is not enough cash flow to keep the hotel in its original glory. The swimming pool is empty, there is grass growing in the cracks of the parking lot and little growing elsewhere. Would I stay there again? Absolutely. I would hope to be part of keeping the hotel alive until the economy turns around. I hope it survives because it would be a shame if it does not.
