Very clean, but not a place to stay for more than
Very clean room and bathroom with nice clean white sheets and duvet. There was a kettle, cups, wardrobe and tv in the room. With a small table and 1 stool. There wasnt a chair to sit in. The room (room 4) decor is dated, the single bed mattress has springs you can feel when sleeping. the double mattress was fine. This room faces the road and althougth the double glazed windows were closed we heasrd the traffic late at night and in the mornnig. The hotel is above a pub and on a main road.

These rooms are above a pub so be prepared for loud music, either take earplugs (i did ) or go join in downstairs, I slept like a log, the staff were very friendly and even though i didn't eat there, the food looked delicious and other people seem to be enjoying it, the rooms are upstairs with no lift m, so if you struggle with stairs this place isn't for you, i would definitely use the Hussar again.

Room nice but so called continental breakfast was piss poor just a cup of tea 2 tea bags to last 3 days and the noise from the pub below was a bit loud

Would stay here again
I had the opportunity to stay here recently for a two night stay across a Friday and Saturday night. The new owners are really friendly and accommodating to any requests. Breakfast was lovely

Friendly hosts, but uncomfortable stay
The Hussar is a pub in Garlinge, with rooms above the pub. The hosts were friendly (under new management) & the facilities were very clean. However, the mattress was of poor quality and I barely slept during my stay (despite sleeping on top of a folded duvet, I could still feel the springs underneath). There was also an issue with the noisy bathroom fan which should have switched off automatically, once the light was switched off (as opposed to the 45 minute delay). The room had a central heating radiator, but there was no heat during my stay. I stayed in Room 2 and did mention all the above issues to the owner(s)/staff. The pub is situated on a main road and has ample parking and there is a regular bus service.

Not what I paid for
The hotel itself was fine, but I booked a 5 bed family room and when I got there the manager told me they don’t have a 5 bed room. She knew we were coming but didn’t think to ring us ahead of time or make arrangements for another bed and to be honest did not seem to care in the least, the staff member who was most helpful managed to push the two singles together of which myself and my two children had to share - therefore it wasn’t the greatest nights sleep!

We loved our stay here and will return whenever we go to Margate and Broadstairs again. The hosts were amazing, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The on site Thai food is the best we’ve ever tasted, freshly cooked by an expert chef. Take the 8 or 32 bus to Margate. The bus stop is right in front. The Indian restaurant across the road has some unique and very delicious dishes. Free parking and central location meant that we could drive to many different beaches within 10 to 15 minutes. Great place to stay if you have a family of young children. Our 7 year old loved it and liked the lawn and playground for him to play in.

Overall disappointing experience. I been told that check-in is only until 10:30 pm ! But this has been sorted by the on-site staff . I was expecting better standard although I enjoyed the service by the owners

A warm welcome from the staff. They knew I would possibly be working late, but told me that so long as someone was in the kitchen when I returned they would get me some dinner, even though they had finished serving.

We liked our stay, comfortable bed, basic room. Lovely breakfast. It needed better lighting on the stairs it was quite dark. Also needed air fresheners in the room.

Luckily my guest and colleague (for whom I made the reservation booked) raised concerns two days before and I was able to check it out, as my family live locally. The property could not accommodate him due to steep narrow stairways on the way to access the room. The manager agreed to my request for cancellation, but Expedia insist there is zero refundable. I have written to Expedia, as a regular user, to request refund, awaiting reply.

Very Good Find in Westgate
We chose to stay at The Hussar Christmas night as it was an easy walk to family nearby and much closer than any of the chains. Great welcome, big room and large bathroom (both seemed newly decorated) and the wifi worked well. Excellent breakfast included with juice, cereal and plenty of choices for the freshly cooked main course, plus very good toast and coffee.

Hussar. Westgate on sea.
Room above a pub. Separate entrance so no need to keep to pub hours. Breakfast finishes at 9.30 so things are ready for opening time. Very tasty cooked breakfast. Very friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Certain elements a touch shabby... bedspread, sink, teacup... but nothing objectionable and overall this is a good place if staying in the area.
