I hate to share this wonderful place!!

Cristina was very helpful. Answered emails promptly. The apartment was in a perfect location. Nice little kitchen with all the basic utensils. Definitely a place to stay in Mantova!

La struttura é posta in zona centralissima per cui ci si dimentica l’auto e ci si gode appieno la vacanza. Il monolocale dove abbiamo soggiornato era ampio, pulito, con tutti i confort. Seppur in zona centrale abbiamo riposato tranquillamente. La proprietaria persona gentilissima e molto disponibile. Se dovessimo tornare a Mantova prenoterei nuovamente presso la residenza Agorà!

Mantua: magic place to stay at Agora Rezidenza

Agora Residenza is situated right in the heart of historic part of Mantua, but just down a small street so nice and quiet while being immediate to the interconnected set of piazzas which hold many of Mantua great sites. We walked from the station, easy flat walk with bags but a cheap and quick taxi ride if preferred (proprietor Christina promptly organised taxi for out departure and oversighted to ensure all ok). We had downstairs apartment-excellent studio space with cooking/dine in necessities and we did this a few times and worked well. Scrupulously clean, serviced daily, TV and wifi all fine. Cristina’s welcoming advice re places to see, and restaurants very helpful- as is the central tourist information office just down in adjacent piazza Erbe (in fact probably the best such office I’ve found in Italy on many trips). This was such a comfortable place to stay. Breakfast is via vouchers for a bar in the piazza- worked easily though is a bit limited I coffee and a selection of one panino and one other cake-all we needed and more available if needed but isn’t the full hotel breakfast buffet. The proximity to the lovely piazzas, Ducal palace, ancient rotunda, duomo, lakes just down street, and easy walk to Palazzo Te at other end of town made this a really great place to stay. Family run, multi lingual proprietor who very committed to helping etc. heating and bathroom all very good and easy for laundry activities. Would stay there again if in Mantua, which is splendid too.

Ideal location to stay for visiting Mantova

This residence was an ideal location for us to stay in while visiting Mantova. We were grateful to Christina for sending us guidance on the best route to walk between the railway station and the residence. We received a good welcome on arrival and Christina was very helpful with good advice on what to see during our visit to Mantova and where to eat in an evening. We really enjoyed the boat trip on the lakes around Mantova. We had some lovely meals in Mantova. Breakfast was in the cafe round the corner where the food was excellent quality and our outside table had a wonderful view of the square. A great way to start any day. The only mistake we made was to book two nights in Mantova - we really needed three or four nights to enjoy this gem of a city. The apartment was very comfortable and just what we needed.

Spacious and comfortable

Centrally located just behind the basilic Agora offers spacious well equipped apartments. The owner Christina was very welcoming and offered helpful advice including recommendations for restaurants which were very good.

Comodo residence nel cuore di Mantova

Splendido residence in posizione favolosa nel cuore del centro storico di Mantova, gestito dalla gentilissima sig.ra Cristina, una perfetta padrona di casa! È davvero una persona che fa di tutto per metterti a tuo agio ed assicurarti un piacevole soggiorno! Fa davvero piacere incontrare persone così a modo, gentili, professionali e disponibili! Really impresssed us!

The person who runs this place has thought of everything! She had a map ready for us and gave us great suggestions, including for a museum that had just opened. Her restaurant suggestions were spot on and she even made the reservations for us. Not only was the room comfortable, the water was HOT and there was lots of it. The location was very central so you could walk everywhere, although there was a stop nearby for the town bus (included in the Mantova Card along with the museums). We stayed here two nights and could easily have stayed longer.

Residenza confortevole in centro storico

A perfect stay

Our stay in Mantua was excellent, partly because Mantua itself is a lovely city but mainly because of the wonderful welcome and constant care of Cristina, the manager who made our visit so easy, comfortable and a joy. She provided maps, tourist and restaurant information and could not do enough for us. She even gave us a wonderful surprise on our wedding anniversary. She is undoubtedly the greatest asset the Agora Residence has; a lovely, kind and generous person.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Agora Residenza recently. Our room (small apartment) had facilities for cooking and although it was on the second floor, the lovely receptionist helped us up with our luggage, very thoughtful.

PERFETTO

Il soggiorno alla residenza Agorà è stato perfetto: la posizione è centralissima, dietro la chiesa di S. Andrea e quasi affacciata su piazza delle erbe. La stanza gode dei confort di un hotel abbinati a quelli di un appartamento: è possibile cucinare grazie ad una graziosa cucina a scomparsa, dotata di tutto il necessario (compreso caffè, zucchero, sale, canovaccio, spugnette...e due bottigliette d'acqua rimesse ogni giorno!) ma, come in hotel, il bagno ha un set intero di asciugamani a testa e saponette e shampoo nelle classiche mini boccette e vengono effettuate le pulizie della stanza. La colazione è inclusa, ossia vi verranno consegnati dei buoni colazione per un caffè storico in piazza delle Erbe dove potrete ordinare te/caffè e due pezzi del loro assortimento di pasticceria. A livello estetico, la stanza è bellissima,ampia, arredata modernamente e curata in ogni dettaglio, dalle tende ai tappeti, alle coperte sul letto intonate. La signora che ci ha accolto è stata gentilissima e ci ha consigliato diversi posti tipici in cui andare a mangiare, in alcuni dei quali è possibile ottenere uno sconto in quanto clienti dell'Agorà. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo, in conclusione, è decisamente favorevole, l'impressione è quella di aver pagato poco, per un servizio del genere.

Mantova Gem

great central location, all sights and restaurants are a short walk and several excellent restaurants are just steps from Agora Residenza. Room was an apartment with sitting area, small kitchen, bed and bath Cristina is a gracious hostess and provided a good orientation to Mantova as well as recommendations for activities and local eating establishments. Breakfast is a special treat and I won't spoil what was a pleasant surprise for us.

Hidden gem

Alessandro and his daughter could not be more welcoming even though we'd changed our arrival times at the last minute. He took such pains to explain all essentials, while she had earlier emailed me with detailed directions from the station. Even so, we had difficulties finding l'Agora; it's in a narrow vicolo off a covered portico between Piazza Erbe and Via Cavour, the street entrance usually blocked by a market stall. The front door and entry corridor are also a bit scruffy. Once inside, however, the apartment is spacious, quiet and well equipped - furnishings are simple (don't expect luxury) but the flat is decorated with some well-chosen paintings. The location is brilliant, right in the historic centre with most of the main attractions and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. Breakfast - at the excellent and popular Bar Caravatti looking out on Piazza Erbe - is included and l'Agora also offers 10% discounts at three very good restaurants. The city is undergoing substantial restoration, so there's a lot of scaffolding masking some views but it's still a magical place, a combination of mediaeval wealth and present-day buzz - the young population looks bright and confident and the small locally-owned shops have real style. It's a place for curious visitors rather than just tourist groups.
