I recommend especially if seeking R&R. Initially, not totally impressed with the location as I drove into the parking lot. However, the updated room and the water view was outstanding. I would highly recommend!

One of our favorite properties ever visited!

Wonderful property. Right on the sound. Great views and amenities. We loved the use of the bicycles, kayaks, and paddles boards. Staff was friendly. Property was clean and well maintained. Happy hour charcuterie board and wine was nice touch. We would definitely love to visit and stay again. Great access to the bridge to Nags Head and also nice downtown Manteo area.

The view from the room of the sound was beautiful and peaceful. Would suggest that for room 202, a full curtain would be put up since the blinds do not cover the entire window. Also would have liked to have another chair for the table since we ate super in the room. The outside, cloth shower curtain had mold spots at the bottom. We loved our restful time at the inn. Would go back.

I can't say enough great things about Burrus House! We decided to visit Manteo on a whim, and were delighted to see that Burrus House had a suite available. First, this hotel is quite possibly the cutest place I have ever seen. Grey shingled mansion right on the marsh, with an unbelievable view of the water and Downtown Manteo. Our suite was impeccably decorated and well-appointed with everything we needed - a super comfortable king bed, huge bathroom, sitting room, kitchen and wrap around patio with a wonderful view of the water. The staff went above and beyond - they set out a great happy hour every evening, and a delicious breakfast every morning! They were friendly, accommodating and offered us some great restaurant recommendations! Burrus House also has canoes, paddleboards and cruiser bikes available for free - AMAZING. We had a great time cruising into downtown Manteo on the bikes every afternoon. Like I said, I can't say enough great things about this hotel. Highly recommend!

The room had a relaxing view and plenty spacious. Sun room was a nice touch, but would have been better if separate from other guests. Jets in the tub were rusty and disgusting. Otherwise the staff was awesome, and the suite felt more like a home than a hotel.

That house feel

We have simply loved staying at the Burrus! The property is very well maintained and every room is quite stylish, well decorated and very comfortable! We stayed in room #3 and it was exactly what we wanted for those days, the perfect feel of a charming little home in North Carolina! There’s tones of natural light, the balcony is perfectly located overlooking the water, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom so spacious and clean! It’s really good to have a separate living area and the wet bar is definitely convenient! Besides that the breakfast offers tasty options to start our day! Manteo is a charming little city and it’s also very convenient to explore the outer banks region! Definitely want to come back in the future!

I really loved all the sitting areas around the property. The views from our room the (Jule Day) where great. The amenities where above and beyond the required. The owner was very personable. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows where very comfortable. Location was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Kitchenette was stocked well. Only a couple of things I might suggest are a toaster at breakfast counter down stairs or in the rooms and maybe juice and milk at breakfast.
