I grew bored with cookie cutter hotels that offer versions of the tired templates. So now I hunt through photos to find places that still have a personality all their own.
I knew we made the right choice, as soon as we saw the gorditas in front. I was also struck by the bold metal sculpture, and so much more. But, i dont want to spoil all the finds. Each nook has its own. And that's one of things I liked most.
They're continually adding to their collection of paintings and other artwork. You might wake up one morning, peek into the hallway, and several new pieces will have taken the place of others. Stories behind certain works, made them all the more interesting.
The Callejas are a multi-generational family of talented artists, and welcoming hosts. A few minutes in, we felt more like personal guests.
In the morning, little parrots landed in the tree over their wall. I loved the typical breakfast. Fresh juice, coffee, a variety of local fruits, along with gallo pinto a choice of entrees, toast and jam.
Yum.
7 some odd kilometers to the airport. The hotel is also close to several things (1-3 km,) including the harbor, palace, mini mall, arboretum, and museum.
Can't say enough good things. We're already looking forward to heading back.
