We loved our stay at The Walter au Lac Hotel. The location is very convenient to all the beautiful spaces in Lugano. Lots of restaurants, shops and parks. We enjoyed our time in Lugano. TIP: If arriving by train, the funicular entrance is in the train station and it is an easy walk in town to the hotel once you take it to the bottom.

We chose the Walter Au Lac bc it's right across the street from the lake and in a beautiful spot of the town so it was so easy for us to open our 2nd floor window and enjoy the view as well as sit on our rooms' patio deck and people watch. We really enjoyed our stay in this charming hotel. I only have 4 stars for the staff bc when I needed the evening receptionist' help, she seemed to be scolding me and lecturing me about the free Ticino Tickets (for the public transportation) that the hotel was supposed to provide due my booking thru Expedia. We did get them from the morning receptionist (although I believe the evening gal printed them for us). Overall awesome stay there!

Its location is perfect. Right next to a bus stop to the station, right behind it is a grocery and department store. Get a room with a view of the lake, it’s worth it! Breakfast is also very good, lots of variety.

First of all, the location is amazing. Hard to beat. Right by the lake with lake views, a quick walk to the city center and for a swim. Second, the place was very clean, so I didn’t have to worry where to put my stuff. The rooms were recently renovated I believe, so those looked new and modern. The hallways, breakfast room and lift have more of a timeless vibe though. I think it’s a nice mix. In the breakfast room you can enjoy the sunrise over the lake, so I thought it was really nice. The food they got is good too. Last but not least, the staff was really friendly across the board and took their time with me. I really appreciated it.
