Obviously a very unique and rustic property with comfortable, clean beds and bed linen. Breakfast provisions were welcome and the nearby farm animals were of great interest. However, attention to housekeeping is needed. Curtains, floors, carpet and lounge furniture were grubby - the lounge furniture could do with a good steam clean. Bench tops and floors were dusty.

Step back in history. This place is absolutely gorgeous. Just bear in mind that you cannot gain access to the adjoining property on a Tuesday. I was so looking forward to view the rose garden there and received a guest access ticket but was refused entry.

Very quiet genuine rural setting. Friendly welcoming owner and staff. Rustic but comfortable cottage with all that one needs. Wonderful for children to be able to get up close to the animals and to feed them. Amazing old buildings showing history of early settlement and convict life.

Brickendon is a very unique property. It's well equipped and cosy. The linens were all beautiful and everything was well stocked in regard to kitchen needs etc. Our only observation was the room was rather dusty and cobwebs even in some kitchen cupboards. Maybe a deep clean occasionally would be great but otherwise we had a wonderful stay.

The cabin was perfect for those who wish to experience Tasmania's history with the modern comforts. The cabin has been decorated in period furniture and fittings, with attention to detail. The gardens and surroundings are beautiful and the outlook contributes to the peaceful surrounds. The check-in was easy and the attendants where accommodating and helpful. Absolutely Amazing.

Absolutely loved the attention to detail throughout the cottage, the breakfast provisions, cosy beds, and the lovely unobtrusive nature of the host. Second time for us staying at Brickendon. It’s becoming our perfect getaway when we have a couple days off. The property is huge and very well maintained, great to walk around with our little dogs. It’s a very quiet farm setting, but so close to Launceston and lots of things to see in the area.

Authentic rustic cottage much enjoyed
The Coachman's Cottage is a special experience if you enjoy stepping back in time and living in an authentic rustic cottage which has been beautifully furnished and sits in a delightful garden of its own on a working farm. We really enjoyed it. Breakfast was very good too as was the glass of port. Every bit as good as we had hoped and imagined.

Very cosy rustic stay
We loved our night at Brickendon, it is very rustic and on a historic farm. We enjoyed a walk around all the heritage buildings learning about the history. There were good breakfast provisions including fresh eggs and juice. It was wonderful to arrive on a cold afternoon and step into the cottage where the log fire had been burning all morning 😊 Lovely view of a white frost across the paddock at the back next morning.

I love the location - the cottage is extremely comfortable, warm and quiet. We really appreciated the fresh eggs, milk, butter, preserves and bread left in the refrigerator for us. Although the cottage is signed as being private, the back garden is open to visitors roaming around the whole historic estate. It was a little perturbing to have several people wanting to see inside the cottage and also peering through the windows.

Our stay was unfortunately short but guaranteed to return for a longer stay in the future. The Farmers cottage was welcoming and warm on arrival. Clean, tidy, comfortable and quiet. We had a quick look around our surroundings in the evening before loosing daylight and again in the morning before we had to leave. So much to see and learn. The history of the estate is fascinating. The animals were all so friendly. Even the pig sat for a photo and had a pat. We left rested, clean, and well fed at breakfast. We are planning our next visit already. Thank you

We loved the historical atmosphere of the whole property, the homestead and gardens, historic buildings to see, and the history of the family to hear about. The accommodation was comfortable and quaint, quiet and cosy with wonderful views of the countryside from the verandah of Pumpkin Cottage. An added bonus was the cosy s.c.fire. The dawn was magic to see from the bedroom window. Breakfast was very generous also. Christine, who greeted us on arrival was very warm and informative about the history of the Archer family. All in all, a fantastic place to stay

Great place to chill out for a few days with horses and sheep easily seen on the back verandah. For 2 out of the 3 days we were there we were the only occupants. Only objection is there was no wi fi and we had to wonder closer to the office, a 3 minute walk, to get reception.

A wonderful stay in this historic cottage. Lots of farm animals to see around this working farm, and a feeding opportunity presented just after 10am in the morning. The friendly farm cat came and visited us during the afternoon. We loved the breakfast provisions and complimentary port overnight. Also a trip to the adjacent Woolmers estate and gardens is recommended.

We arrived late afternoon, there was a sign and typed information to enable us to get to and the accommodation. Chopped wood was prepared and in the fireplace ready for us to ignite it. Heaters in every room, electric blankets on the beds, an ensuite with one bedroom, floor heating in the bathrooms and plenty of supplies for drinks and breakfast, plus extras. We really appreciated sitting in front of the fireplace on comfy couches after a long cold day. We appreciated the homemade preserves and jams. there were three types of cereal, bread, fresh eggs, butter, orange juice and 2 litres of milk in the fridge which meant we could have our early breakfast prior to heading off to work. We would have loved to explore the grounds, watch the animals and dine in the long dining room overlooking the garden. There was a small dining room as well with garden views. The character of this 1800s building has been maintained with the exception of modernised bathrooms with wonderful water pressure. Naturally, old buildings do have some foibles, such as uneven walls, with some damp but it was all part of the charm, there was no musty smells and the heaters kept the rooms dry. We would love to come back and visit at leisure. Well done to the owners.
