"The room was clean and large. There was an odd smell that bothered us, likely new paint or carpeting that had not been sufficiently aired out. There was no offer of assistance to lug our suitcases up two flights of stairs. We were not the only guest to struggle with this. Breakfast was good and the wait staff were friendly and efficient. Location was excellent for getting into the main part of town. Parking was not ideal - in a nearby lot. It would be nice if the hotel arranged specific parking...

"An amazing stay at the Dale Head Hotel! Beautiful location and well-manicured grounds to walk around. There is access to the lake from the property, but not easily - the path is a little over-grown. The Manager, Dale, was lovely and could not have been more helpful. We were there to hike Helvellyn, and he advised us that Swirls Car park (beginning of the hike) is easily accessed from the hotel by a woodland footpath, rather than the main road, or paying for the car park. "We stayed at the Horse and Farrier the night before our hike up Scafell Pike, it's only a 25 minute drive to Seathwaite Parking, if you're going up the corridor route.
