We expected quite simple / basic accommodation and were pleased to find it as anticipated - a small cabin like bedroom simply fitted out but completely adequate and spotlessly clean. We didn't arrive until just after 8pm but were cheerfully greeted by a very helpful Chris (despite him being towards the end of a busy day for him - when we arrived he was part of a small team clearing up after a wedding or birthday celebration of some size). "Unfortunately we were put in a room that faces the road where there are ongoing roadworks. These went on all through the night, we gave up at 7 am and went for breakfast then headed straight home. The lorries were constantly back and forth with reversing alarms going. I have complained to premier inn but they accept no responsibility for placing guests in rooms while this work continues. Avoid Waterloo Street Birmingham for the time being."

There was no shower enclosure or demarkation (even a sill or ledge on the floor to keep the water somewhat contained would have been helpful). The rainhead shower and the shower wand sprayed the entire room. There are no hooks to hang up your towels. The bathroom is small and the lighting is dim. "Lovely grounds and buildings. Staff were very helpful and professional. We didn't use the spa facilities but it all looked great. We enjoyed eating and drinking on the terrace, as an informal alternative to the restaurant, and found the bar staff very friendly and efficient. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, definitely!"

"Chose this property as it wasn’t far from the motorway to split up a long journey. Was absolutely fine for what we needed it for, with food outlets nearby to grab something to eat for dinner and for breakfast the next morning. Was the first time I have experienced a faceless stay, but it worked fine. Parking was full and being used by work vans, so just had to park on the street nearby."

Cons: I stayed one night and it was quite uncomfortable, there was no a/c and during the heatwave made it worse A fan was in the room but it was just blowing hot air around the room. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel parking it’s quite expensive, and there’s a cheaper parking lot about 3 mins walk away which is what I decided to use instead. Room had No fridge. "Ordered room service at a late time of the night. Whilst I don’t expect gourmet at 1am it is reasonable to have something edible. £35 for 2 dry panini rolls isn’t really good enough and this could be improved. Also no spa - which should make the 5 star experience better."
