We had a wonderful and restful overnight stay at this wonderful hotel. The room that we booked had issues with the AC, and we were given another room. The manager took us around and showed us one of the two rooms they had available, and right away we chose the first without looking at the other one. The room that we got was more than what we expected. It was clean, spacious, and we slept throughout the night without no issues. We did have dinner at the hotel bar and the food was good and the staff were very friendly. The environment was very relaxing. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.

My favorite place to stay when I'm in town. I travel by train, and it's literally right next to the station (but don't worry- train noise is minimal). It's a wonderful mix of vintage decor and a modern AC/heating system. And the staff is very helpful and friendly!

Great restaurant and bar but both are closed on Monday and Tuesday. When you book, stipulate that you do NOT want the room (104) next door to the kitchen on the far end of the hotel. An unfortunate location with a forgotten entry area and view of the trash dumpsters. Room was spacious and clean but the location was extremely disappointing and we were put there because other rooms hadnt been cleaned.

This is a lovely hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative is lack of amenities. I understand the bar is opening soon and a restaurant is to come. That will be an improvement but there needs to be at the very least a snack counter. Soda, chips, etc

This historic Fred Harvey property was clean and attractive. It was renovated and reopened in 2019. Staff was welcoming, friendly, and anticipated and fulfilled our every need. We’ve stayed here several times in the past and will stay here again, highly recommend.

The room was clean and the staff was helpful; however, it was difficult to contact the staff when calling and trying to inform them that we would be checking in close to 8:00pm. No one answered the phone nor did they acknowledge the email we sent. The one very disappointing aspect of our stay was that the bathroom only had one little bar of soap for handwashing and for showering. The soap dispensers in the hotel room bath and in the restaurant restroom had liquid pink soap like you would see in elementary schools. I would expect higher quality products. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.

The Castañeda Hotel is a very historic Harvey House built over 100 years ago. After being abandoned for years, it was meticulously renovated a few years ago. My wife and I were excited to spend a night to experience the ambiance. Yvonne at the front desk was friendly and took plenty of time to visit and make recommendations for dining etc. All the rooms are unique and differently decorated. The first room we had was not heating up so we were offered another room which was nice and warm. We were able to experience the decor and feel of two completely different rooms, which was very nice. Our mini vacation was only 24 hours but well worth the short drive from Santa Fe. We would like to return in the future.

This is a wonderful experience, not just a hotel stay. The hotel is just wonderful and the bar/bistro downstairs is a delight. You don't need to leave the property to have a very relaxing night and be entertained. There was a very talented trio playing in the bar and the food was fabulous. It is a tapas bar, but you can easily get enough to share and fill yourselves. We will make it a must on our trip that we take so often.

My husband and I love history and made a last minute reservation for this hotel as we left Ojo Caliente. Expedia showed only two king rooms left as I booked on my phone. Upon checking in that afternoon, the receptionist told us the restaurant was opened until 9:00pm so we decided to drive over to the natural hot springs there in town. We arrived back around 5:45pm to get dressed for dinner only to learn from the receptionist the dining room had closed early because it was slow. I then asked if we could order a drink in the bar area and gave food Door Dashed to the hotel. The receptionist said they are doing last call now and not sure if I could place that order. The bartender graciously made our drinks but we learned in this town that some restaurants are short handed or their business is slow so they just close early. That was the most disappointing experience we had there and now that we’ve had a chance to see it and stay there for one night, I really don’t think we would book again in the future. The hotel was extremely quiet like we were the only ones there. Almost had a feeling like the movie “The Shining” with its long endless hallways. Just missing a Big Wheel. We did see another hotel located more central to the town square called the Plaza Hotel and we’re not talking like the one in New York but looked promising with more retail and restaurants surrounding it. I believe we would be more inclined to try that hotel next time passing through.

We arrived late first off. When we got off the freeway and turned into, well let’s say a not so nice area, then into the dim parking lot that my gps brought me to. I was greeted by signs saying not liable for break in or damaged vehicles park at your own risk. Ok not what I expected of the best reviewed hotel in town. The building was very old. Inside is all antiques and old everything. It smelled old also. We got our suite, it was clean. The room had a bad smell like old stale shoe polish. The living room part was a chair, a small old couch, 2 end tables and a huger dresser thing. No tv. The bedroom had a tv. Bed was ok but I think it was old also. It was rutted out or hammocked from being overslept in. The linens weren’t great and were rough on the skin. I’m 6’3” and I hit my head on the overhead bed rail like 4 times going to and from the bathroom. The bathrooms were clean and nice. No issues there. The staff. The night guys did their best and were as helpful as they could be. We were grabbing items and minding the puppies so they opened the door right away for us. Thank you. The next morning mind you was not great at all. The lady behind the counter couldn’t even say good morning. I asked if there was a breakfast or snacks and she said, no just coffee. Had one cup and out the door we went. Omg I think the coffee was antique as well. It got poured out into the gravel parking lot immediately. Not good for dogs either. Too expensive.
