"Very warm welcome. Very clean and well equipped room. Very comfortable bed with nice clean bedding. Excellent breakfast with good choice of food.. My wife is vegetarian and this was catered for with a very helpful manner. We would happily use this hotel again."

"Absolutely loved our stay. Check-in was simple, staff were helpful and the hotel has clearly been renovated recently to a high standard. Breakfast was up there with the best I've ever had in a hotel. Also cracking view over the town and beyond from the Skybar in which the breakfast was served. "The hotel is in a great location and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing that left a mark was the bed, it was quite uncomfortable because it was not a double bed but one that was made up for two out of a single and what seemed to be a sort of pull out bed. That was the only minor thing during what was otherwise a lovely stay!! We did highlight to staff and hopefully they will upgrade the bed. Thank you to the staff who were brilliant !!!"

"good hotel, convenient to railway station (6-8 min walk), a bit far from city centre (15-20 min walk). Good size room, very good shower, good breakfast, would book again if back to York. "

"We stayed at this property in May 2026. While the staff were extremely kind and helpful, the air conditioner in our room was not working and they refused to change our room since they were all booked and declined a refund/compensation too. When you pay £137 a night the least you expect is for the air conditioner to work especially when it’s been a hot day and you’re on the top floor of the hotel. Pretty poor for a ‘Marriott’ hotel. Avoid at all costs."
