"Staff was friendly and working hard. Room was clean, comfortable and nicely updated… but they’re fighting an uphill battle against an aging run down building with apparently a long-broken elevator for 6 floors. Great price on difficult to find lodging in the area."

"While I was there, only one member of staff was manning the front desk as well undertaking other responsibilities around the hotel, but a phone was left at the front desk so you could call when you needed assistance. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and enjoyed the retro-feel. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge area were a nice touch and I loved the outdoor Onsen."

"Room was massive, double the size of any room we have stayed in in Japan. Pillows had both Western and traditional Japan options. Fiona was encompassed in a fitted sheet (never seen this before) but kept us all warm even when it was sub 0 outside. "Was a great stay at this great little inn. It may be a bit different than what most western guest expect to find, but I went for the Ryokan experience and was not disappointed. "The best thing about this place is its location, very close to the Nagasaka gondola lift and main ticket office. I also like the fact that I could rent my ski equipment right from the hotel, and stow the rentals onsite at a designated area. Every morning after eating breakfast at the lodge, I put on the gears and just needed to walk 5 minutes to get to the lift and hit the slope. Amazing hospitality, really easy access to the slopes (you can walk 1 minute to the lift), but they also went out of their way to drive us to and from the slopes on the 3 days we were there. I also want to really recommend this place even if you aren't staying the night for the food.
