"Te Mahuru is a most exceptional, beautiful, very clean and overall, a perfect place to stay. Jen went out of her way to be accommodating and we give thanks t the highest rating possible. The gardens and views were spectacular, the hot tubs were lovely and very clean and the breakfast was delicious. Homemade bread each morning and plenty of great choices. The patio off our room was very private and comfortable for sitting with a cup of tea gazing at the beautiful mountains in the background....

"This place pleasantly surprised us and was better than expected. Nice ensuite cabin, close to kitchen and pool/spa. We were also loaned a caravan electrical cord to plug in our car to charge, $8 fee, but the loan of the cord was greatly appreciated. "

"The Mondello is a small Mom & Pop Family run motel. Within this context, I give them motel 5 stars. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was updated with a newer shower stall. I did not seen any modern chain motels in town. From casual outside of observation, this seemed like one of the better hotels in town. There is no elevator to the second floor. "

"Spotless modern room in quiet collection of room adjacent to a lovely courtyard, footsteps from the Kaikoura beach and an easy walk to the heart of downtown shops and restaurants, as well as pier for seals and surf. Lobby is a great place to tuck in with a book by the fire if the weather changes. Lovely gracious hosts and staff. Highly recommend. A special gem amid all the modest hotels and dated motels that line the busier end of the beach. "
