The people that works there are friendly and helpful, The place is very out dated and needs a lot of work… There’s a supermarket and gas station near the hotel which was very nice to have..Not many places to eat.. only saw a pizza place near the hotel..so got dinner at the supermarket..the room has a microwave &fridge which was a real plus.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom sink was slow to drain and the faucet was stiff and difficult to operate –– a minor issue. Overall the motel looked dated with the furnishing having a thrift store look but everything was clean and the stay was pleasant.

We extended our trip from Utah one day longer to make a detour and see the Painted Hills o. Our way home to the Oregon Coast. We made a last minute reservation in John Day and chose this hotel. Check in was quick and easy and the gentlemen behind the counter was friendly…he even gave me some Lindor chocolates:) The room was clean and had a huge flat screen TV, super comfortable lounge chair and exercise bike! It’s a little outdated, but I could care less. I look for clean and comfortable and it was both!

This property is older but was still well maintained and clean. The location was easy to get to and was quiet. There is a bbq bar next door and some other restaurants a short drive/reasonable walk (about 1/2 mile) away. The property is managed by a family and was very attentive and friendly. I plan on staying here again next time I am in the area.

Chill and comfy place to stay for the night. Especially if visiting the fossil beds ! I came with a friend but would feel safe solo too. Owners were super nice ! There’s a bar right next door and a cafe which good drive thru breakfast right down the street within walking. Found a hair in the pillow and a stain on the blanket so only reason it’s not a 5, but it wasn’t a big deal to me personally !

We were real happy with our stay. The only other vacancy in town had bumped their rates up to $299.!!!, that's not happening... The Budget 8 was clean, we were able to conveniently park right in front of our room, very reasonable rate, nice family run motel!

If you are looking for a fancy place to stay don't come here. However, if you need an inexpensive location that is roomy and clean its a good choice. Unlike another review there were no bed bugs. The bed was clean. The carpet was a bit torn but it was clean, water worked well and the bed was comfortable. I would return again.
