"This is without a doubt the best hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. The level of customer service is second to none. The rooms are exceptional, the grounds are immaculate, the spa is beautiful, the outdoor pool is heated to a toasty 32C according to my watch. What an incredible stay. I find it really hard to find any faults. If I had to pick one fault. We had an 8:45pm dining time at Charlies on a Sunday night and I will admit that dinner took absolutely AGES! I think the poor staff were run off their feet and you could see how stressed out they were. The food was absolutely delicious. We did have one slightly pickier eater who would have loved a simple steak but there was none on the menu. I loved the food however. The clay pidgeon shooting experience was booked through the hotel and the man who took us was such a gentleman. We paid £120 for the experience and he was happy to share the shots between our group. I would absolutely do this again when we return. The golf course was immaculate and beautiful and everyone I had an encounter with was lovely. Even the local members on the course were happy to chat. We can't wait to return again in the summer."

"The breakfast was first rate, the cooked breakfast was just enough and cooked to perfection. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful which greatly improved the whole experience. The building internally would benefit from a little attention eg. Some flaking paintwork in hallway, but nothing offensive, and did not affect our stay at all. The room was clean and well presented, so glad we upgraded to Deluxe double. Noticed a little black mould on the grout around bath, but it was clear that the bathroom had been thoroughly cleamed. We loved staying at the Macdonald Linden, and would happily recommend it to other travellers We hope to return soon. Great base for exploring the beauty of Northumberland. An altogether great weekend."

"Upgraded to a beautiful suite for a fraction of the advertised rate for our anniversary. Staff are friendly, rooms are large and clean with all needs considered. Live music and bar in the big tent was a bonus too! Lovely breakfast included in the price and dinner deal was great, the food was delicious!"

"Room was as expected, good size, bunk for teenager and enough room for the dog bed and dog to wonder round in. Room was reasonably clean, linen fresh and clean. Wifi struggled a little for 24hrs. Breakfast was plentiful, staff were lovely, nice touch in the room for the dog (treats). Would stay again."

"Lovely, friendly staff and a beautiful restaurant. Fab little car park at the back, which is very handy. The only thing which might stop us staying again is the bed: it was really springy, old and uncomfortable, so neither of us slept well."

"From checking in to check out the staff were friendly professional and even when busy were cheerful. Accommodation was clean comfortable and quiet. Access to either restaurant or cafe was easy. Good selection at the bar and meals were great standard."

"2 night stay , parking was perfect , the room was a very generous double … huge bed , and in like a motel type set up . So despite being on a road was not noisy . Perfect to explored Holy Island Donna one of staff was a 5star herself , nothing was too much trouble , and we were welcomed and well looked after -thanks "
