Great place and people

The people here were amazing! Very kind, helpful, and the room was just what we needed after an all day trip on the road. We will definitely be back next time we swing through South Dakota!

Phil and Vicki are true hospitality purveyors. Our stay here was so lovely. They made us feel so welcome, gave us tips and suggested things to do, and they were just so kind.

For many years, I stay here at least once a year on my way to or from Deadwood. I love the owners as they run a good business. The coffee shop out front has good coffee or tea, and food! It’s right by the river and you just can’t beat the small town feel of Hot Springs. If your lucky you’ll see trotting deer and turkeys nearby

Don’t let the outside fool you. The beds, pillows and sheets were very comfortable. The room was clean with modern conveniences. The owners are SUPER nice people and will do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. They are very knowledgeable about the area and the town and will give you great suggestions on things to do in the area. I highly recommend the hotel.

Owner was nice to allow my cooler in the hotel walk-in freezer saving my food from going rotten. Owner also runs a cafe with great coffee and breakfast items. The rooms, however, can use some freshening up and cleaning can definitely be improved.

We come to Hot Springs once a year and these people are always friendly. The service is great and the atmosphere is Small-town welcoming. Can’t beat the price or location!

The staff was exceptional-very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. The modern renovations are nice but the heaters have not been updated and are very loud, which made it hard to sleep. The cabins are cute but cold overnight and with the heater right overhead, again hard to get to sleep. The modern showers are a neat design but getting my feet wet every time I used the bathroom was irksome. All-in-all a nice stay and you can’t beat the price or location. We were able to walk to many of the town’s local businesses including the art gallery, shops, and restaurants. The number one feature of this lodging establishment is that it is very close to Moccasin Springs, which is what many folks come to town for. I don’t think we spent much time in our rooms aside from sleeping as there were so many cool things to do and see within walking distance of this motel. I was delighted that a weekend in this quaint little town was low-priced but high in quality experiences.

The facility is not new and it is clear that the owner is putting in a lot of effort into updating the rooms. Having set that our room was full of flies, there was a musty smell. We also had a smoke-free room but there was a definite smell cigarette smoke- that could be because upon our arrival our window was open. The window does not have any curtains, which would usually not be a problem if the sliding barn-door type of cover was able to fully blackout the room. Unfortunately there was a two inch gap or so that allowed light into the room and woke us up really early. Due to the way the shower is structured a lot of water ends up on the floor which could be the cause of the musky smell. The beds weren’t to soft or to hard, pillows were a bit on the firmer side. The bathrooms is also pretty narrow and is not accessibility friendly so if that is important to you make sure to get an appropriate room- this was not an issue for us but may be important for someone else.

We didn’t realise that absolutely nothing would be open on a Sunday so after 9 hours driving and then walking around the town to find everything closed whilst hungry and tired, it wasn’t the best experience. I’m sure it’s much better on other days of the week. There are no facilities at the hotel so we had to drive to find an open restaurant of which there was only one anywhere nearby which is a Mexican restaurant - probably our least favourite cuisine! A lovely breakfast from the coffee van next to the hotel the following morning though with very friendly staff.

To no fault of their own there was a lot of construction in the town so it was a bit noisier and harder to navigate the town. You can tell this family is working hard to make their hotel a place families can have a nice stay! Food wagon and outdoor activities available on site. Prickly pear margaritas for the win!! But overall, the rooms need a good cleaning. From the floors to the shower. The staff was warm, welcoming and attentive to our needs. We would stay again.
