"Lovely stay"

"We booked a two-night stay at The Montagu Arms to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, so this was a special occasion for us. I would first like to say that every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and professional throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the accommodation itself fell well below our expectations. "Great staff, unique location , excellent food , couple of small issues with the bathroom, quite a lot of limescale on the shower controls & adjacent tiles. Hot water in the basin took forever to even be lukewarm. Everything else up to scratch & would stay again ."

"The home like features of the room were the highlight of this hotel. The room came with pots, pans and dishes including dishwashing soap for the dishwasher and a fridge - everything you could need to feel "at home." There is also a decent grocery store near by you can stock up at for food. The hotel staff are extremely nice and friendly. It really did feel like you were at home. I would stay at this hotel again the next time I am in Southampton."

I knew from the pictures not to expect luxury but it was less attractive in person. The building had the feel of an old roadside motel and I would not have felt safe or secure there if I had been traveling alone. "Really friendly staff & very clean everywhere which was great. House keeping staff were lovely & very helpful. Quite easily the cleanest place we have stayed in. Possibly some of the rooms were more style than substance as not practical in places. Some maintenance issues regarding loose tap in Room 3 . Do note : Avoid room 12 especially in hot weather as incredibly hot!! Poor ventilation & a pathetic fan which just blew around warm air. We asked to be moved after experiencing the worst night’s...
