With a spectacular location on the Swedish coast Hoga kusten, or The High Coast, Harnosand boasts magnificent sea views. Visit Harnosand Art Gallery to admire the Qvist collection, with works from masters such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall, as well as more than 500 works of art from the 18th and 19th centuries. At Harnosand’s Theater you can see shows, reviews and concerts, though most are performed in Swedish. The streets fill with visitors during the festival Harnosand Stadsfest, as the city hosts music events with many of the country's biggest acts.
One of the most iconic attractions is the Harnosand Cathedral, which looks out over the city from a hill. Venture inside to discover fascinating items from the 17th and 18th century. Continue your historic tour of the city with a visit to Hemso fastning, or Hemso Fortress. This defence structure was built in 1953 on the island of Hemso just outside Harnosand, and now invites visitors to explore its depths.
Travel to Harnosand by train or bus, taking you to the conveniently located Central Station. If you're venturing further afield, you can catch a local bus to your destination. Those arriving by plane will land at Sundsvall Timra Airport, about 30 kilometres from the city centre.
