"Good place to stay, better in warm, dry weather. Seemed more like a multi story motel with only outside entrance to the room. First, the staff were amazing. Helpful, kind, efficient, typical of a higher costing hotel. The view was great and local amenities were a short walk. BTW, no free fudge tastes anymore, thankfully. The room was clean and well stocked. We missed breakfast the first day because it was too difficult to reach the breakfast room. There is an elevator located in another part of the hotel that is quite a walk outside or one and a half flight of stairs. Either way means walking outside, mostly covered, from your room. The breakfast room was well stocked, better than advertised. They served scrambled eggs that were not listed online plus many more selections than most "breakfast included" stays. The pool appeared to be nice but again, it required a walk from the far side of the property in the cold both ways. We would have liked to use the pool and hot tub and would have if it were warm outside or accessible from inside. Probably no issue in the summer months. All trips outside your room require walking outside, no inside hallways except in the lobby as far as we could find. The hotel is showing its age, Damaged ceiling in our room, likely do to a poor repair. Most upkeep was well done, some was missed for some time. The walk to the beach was on a very nice walkway that had risky holes that need to be avoided."

"Overall, my stay at the hotel was good, and I had a pleasant experience. However, I believe they should pay a little more attention to cleanliness. The bathroom was a bit dirty, and the shower curtain had a terrible smell and visible mold. Other than that, everything was good. With better attention to cleaning and maintenance, the experience could be even better."

"Clean quiet. Encouraged me to take my bicycle right into my room. It would have been nice if there were some instructions for the shower. I’ve never had one that required pulling before twisting. I almost called the office."

"Our Island House stay could have not been better. Although an older hotel it is updated and very well taken care of. Room was amazing, staff friendly. Customer service was top notch. Will definitely stay at the Island House on my next visit to Mackinac Island. Location was perfect."
