Disliked: Amenities
The indoor pool and entire rec room were "closed", but this was not stated on the website or on expedia. I chose the hotel because it has a nice indoor pool.
Could have more than one coffee pot, more than one type of bagel, warm breakfast burritos that you can microwave would be a nice option.
Absolutely loved the designated smoking area although some pool towels next to the door with a bin for dirty towels would have allow gas to dry the bench off if it's wet like it was when I sat down.
Overall the place was great plan on staying again possibly for an extended stay. The girls at the front counter were more than courteous, also you could have fans that guests could use with a deposit and get their deposit back when they return the fan unharmed. That would greatly cut down on noise from other guests and help the heaters maintain the heat in the room
It is centrally located, near great food, the public transportation in front of the hotel, the hotel has a diff name but it is the same as the other in expedia, not great breakfast because it does not have protein in it, but get to ALDI close distance buy protein there. You can self checkout.
This hotel is full of homeless people. The property is clean and beds comfortable. The other guests whether homeless or long term construction workers are no issue. Front desk staff was very friendly as was the housekeeping staff.
Do not recommend at all the website lies. Very mean staff the place was dirty so was the room pool room as nast, the continental breakfast that they say they give online was a lie they give you cereal and milk. Staff was not polite spoke barely any English do not recommend at all ever going to this place.
What was unique was the gym and pool areas to me what i didn’t really like was my toilet or shower didn’t work as well as i thought it would overall great tho
Definitely cheap and affordable for a weekend stay. We wanted extra pillows because the ones we had were super tiny and flat. They didnt have anymore pillows to give out. The covers had cigarette burns in it and stains. The bath tub wasn't in the best shape. Bed was comfortable though.
The floor in our room wasn’t vacuumed. The table was very wobbly. The pool was closed. The toilet seat was loose. Ice was only available on the third floor. The digital clock was broken. We needed three towel sets, but had two.
This is not a 5 star property, so I expected some of this.
The staff was helpful, the bed was clean and comfortable, the soap, shampoo, and conditioner smelled amazing. The laundry was efficient.

Wasn't the worst but wouldn't stay again.
This hotel is definitely a get what you pay for type of place. It's sketchy from the oustide, hot on the inside and generally just a bit run down. The lobby looks nice and the location was what we needed so on that point, it was nice. But we did not have a shower curtain and when we requested another they were unable to bring us one bc the person who was able to get it, was in Chicago and wouldnt be back until 2am. I dont fault the lovely woman who was just as confused as we were but it was frustratingg as we had been traveling all day. We were supposed to get one brought up to us in the morning and either we missed their knock or they got held up. We also had half used toiletries left in our bathroom for us. Overall, it wasn't the worst hotel experience.. the beds were comfy, the ac in our room worked well and the staff were very pleasant to talk to! However, I would personally book elsewhere in the future.
Was it the best hotel? No
Was it the worst hotel? Also no
Pros: the woman at the front desk was amazing! She was kind and efficient. They were clearly understaffed but she did not have a bad attitude at all.
The game room was awesome!!! While a little outdated, my teenagers had a great time.
Cons: the pool was out of service.
Rooms needed a serious deep clean.
No smoke detectors
Awful stench of marijuana everywhere through the hotel.
I chose this hotel because it advertised as being pet-friendly. 24 hours before check-in, I received an automated text saying no pets allowed subject to $250 fee. It's my fault for not calling the hotel to confirm, but upon arrival I found pets were allowed for $25/day. I wish my pup didn't have to miss out on our little family staycation! Also, the automated message said check-in was at 4pm. Check-in is at 3pm, as confirmed by the wonderful hotel staff. The hot tub is permanently out of service, but the pool was heated. It's old, but my son loved splashing around. Ideal for younger children. Our fridge and phone were broken in the room, but otherwise we were comfortable and staff were accommodating and kind.
We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 10 years. We have watched to go from a very nice place down to a despicable disgusting place and now being brought back to a nicer facility. Definitely not a five-star hotel as it lodges a lot of weekly residents who have the place smelling like smoke all the time. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the room was extremely clean however when we pulled the linens back there were knife stabs all through the entire mattress and there was dried flowersl petals underneath the sheet as if they would have been left from Valentine's Day. When this was brought to the attention of the front desk staff they seemed very indifferent as if they didn't care about how we were disgusted knowing that we had laid on used sheets. The rate was more than fair and because of that you get what you pay for.

To each their own. I like cheap
The good - I disagree with many of the reviews I read. I thought the staff was amazing. We stayed 2 nights, saw many different workers, all were very friendly and helpful. Condition of some things aside, I believe our room and common areas were as clean as they could be. The bed was clean and comfy, our fridge etc worked. The staff seems to be doing the best they can with what they are dealt. I didn’t see any of what reviews are calling homeless people or anything unsafe. It’s not a secret that doors locked at midnight. There was staff at the desk ready to let us in, non issue. Breakfast was good, the basics, cereal, bagels etc. I liked that they had donut holes and mini muffins
The bad - The hotel could definitely use some repairs. It’s not in great shape. There was a hole in our shower ceiling from a prior leak or something, our vanity was held up by like 2x2 sticks and the caulk job prob wasn’t professional. It seemed like they have no budget for repairs and someone is doing what they can. It wouldn’t stop me from staying there again, but just fyi.
I waited too long to book for van andel, this was avail and not $600. I paid more than an average night and I’m not upset about it. It’s 6 min away. It did what I needed, a place to sleep, shower, free parking and free breakfast. There’s also a gas station next door, I always need drinks etc. Win IMO
If you’re looking for fancy or perfect definitely stay somewhere else.
This place is so nasty and so dirty .very false advertisement as well .the rooms are nasty and they have stains on the sheets and blankets. The walls are gross and the floors. There was so much trash behind the stand we had next to the bed. There was like nothing stocked in the room. None of the phones even worked to be able to call down stairs. The heat when you even turned it on stunk so bad. Very false advertisement about saying they had a hot tub. They have water spickets all over by the pool where someone can trip and get hurt. The money machine for the games was broke and 2 of the games didn't even work. TV didn't really work in one of the rooms at all. Took pic of the remote. The staff act like they have no clue what they are doing and you can't understand anything they're saying at all. They say they have nothing to do with it Truly the most worst experience I have ever had. Breakfast was slim to none. Just truly a very nasty place to be. Never will go here again for sure. Not worth the money at all. Took lots of pics bc I seen a lot of people saying they keep the deposits.
The phones don't even work in the room and we just woke up with a fire alarm. The phone number won't even work from the website. The man who called me back said he has been getting calls but he isn't even affiliated with the hotel at all.
Edit. And now we get woke up at 3 am for a fire alarm going off and I have an autistic child and it scared him and the rest of my 4 kids. Just awful
